Sam Lloyd

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Definite keeper.

Another solid pre-season won't hurt!

Yes, perfect comparison.
But keep in mind Medhurst lost his place in Collingwood's Premiership side midway through 2010 when football changed and it all became about pressure.
Opposition coaches will watch the video and set a guy for him now because they know how damaging he can be with a few touches.
It will be interesting to see if he can be effective once being closely sat on by a quality defender because at his current fitness level there is no way he will create turnovers for us like Jake King used to do.

Confucious ran away from Sam all night but was such a spazz with the ball it didn't really matter. A quality running halfback could really hurt Samuel.
But yeah he needs a chance. He's a 8 touch 3 goal player. Valuable.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Needs to stay in the team for the rest of the year.

Smart player.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Plays more like a CHF than either Jack or Vickery, leads up the ground, brings the ball to ground if possible when he can't makr has a good feel for when to lead up and lead back. Shame he is so slow for his height or short for his speed whichever.

For his size he's a good mark. At this stage the alternative is probably A. Edwards and of the two I'd much rather Lloyd.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Took 2 contested marks against Port - not bad for his height.

I agree with that, but his lack of pace is a concern.

Agree with his lack of pace Carna, but if he gets a tank and is able to harrass and run all day his skills, nouse and marking will make up for it. Definitely a lot to work with there.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

He's fearless and usually effective in the aerial contests. Flings himself at it. Good luck to him.

That's what I noticed yesterday. Actually created some crumbs in the forward line that Vickery could only dream of creating.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Uses his body extremely well in the marking contest. when he doesn't mark brings the ball to ground and looks a smart player. absolutely knows where the goals are. Think he will be much better after a full preseason.

Apparently we haven't seen the half of it.

Took a few hangers at his time at Deniliquin according to his previous coach Gary Parsons:

"We've seen him take some unbelievable marks up here. I said to someone the other day, I think he'll take mark of the year before the season's out. I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best of him yet."

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Highlight of the day for me was when we had the momentum in the 2nd qtr, Lloyd got the ball at the 50 , swung around onto the right an went bang, no rootin around, no dishin off, did what a forward should do an kick the bloody goal

And that's what I meant in an earlier post. If or when Lloyd settles as an AFL player he,ll be producing some very good stuff.

Lloyd's not a big lad by footy standards. He did very well there, BT24. I really liked his game. Ty could certainly learn from him.

It's an assassin's instinct. Rare and priceless.

And pushed Vickery out of the way in the process!

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd
