Stiff to miss out, but you can see that his fitness isn't really were it needs to be play consistent footy at this level.

You may well be correct about Lloyd's fitness levels, Saint K, but by my reckoning he would stand a better chance of contributing more to the Tigers in a quarter or two than some others would for an entire match. Very stiff to be dropped.

Has the qualities of a super sub

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Just went back to look at his stats: 13 possessions, 6 tackles, 1.1.

Jake King has made a career out of those stats but they're not good enough for Lloyd?

Odd. Scapegoated for sure, poor bloke.

Yep. The boys club is alive and well down at Tigerland.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

His touches on saturday weren't AFL standard unfortunately.

Was worth a punt but unless he improves markedly our search for forward silk continues.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I think the kid is a bit stiff. What I can't understand is he is a small goal kicking forward, who have they brought in to replace him? We've bought in two defenders and an inside mid, when one of our problems is not scoring goals! Very nervous selections.

He is 5th on our goal scoring table in his first year at AFL having only played 5 games, the 4 players above him have played all 8 games.

He has got a lot to learn, maybe his fitness is not right up there and maybe he is never going to be a Milne, but this revolving door with new players is achieving nothing. It doesn't happen at the good clubs, they make an assessment on the player then they back him.

Good post BV.

Though I reckon Lloyd is limited we haven't replaced him.

With Dea and Thomas in you'd think Martin and Deledio will get extended runs up forward.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Amazing how bad must this kid of played, to have Houli, Grigg, Vickery & Charlie Chaplin still in.

B2

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

this kid will be back, has plenty of skill. I agree with a few others needs another full preseason to be able to run out games. Lets face it who ever got dropped or didn't get dropped there was always going to be decent in the ranks.

Yep, I have no doubt he's gratefull to have a spot in an AFL team and will work his butt off next pre-season!

Yep we always want to be decent in the ranks, much better than having dissent

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Stick a fork in him, he's done. Unless there's a major shakeup that'll be the last we see of Lloyd. Shame, because he actually showed glimpses of something, although I think most sides (certainly top ones) would probably regard him as a good VFL player and only use him as depth.

Wow, that is harsh. A guy in his first season and played only 5 games and kicked 7 goals as a small forward in a pox side and you're calling him "done".

Now I know I criticise RFC for holding onto players too long (eg S Edwards) .....but 5 games?

I'd hold onto him if it was my decision, but the club has shown that they don't to try things like Lloyd, they'd rather stick with people like Thomas and Petterd.

Agree with you there Bully. Even in the green vest, his footy smarts and goal nouse could wreak havoc on opposition defenders with tired legs.
