Jury's out for me, love his goal sense an general footy nous, I'm just a bit worried about his leg speed week in week out

I'm with you on this too CC. But I think he is an upgrade on Jake King and has more upside, and will need to work on and improve his speed and endurance. We have to remember he has a lower fitness base than his opponents, but I with you on the jury thing.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Small forward, coming off a low base, kicking 1,5 a game and showing class.

But he's written off after 4 games.

Since Robert Wiley?

Now, THERE was a small forward who was a mighty player.
Lloyd needs to be persevered with, if at all possible, for the season's duration. He has shown a few glimpses and with a regular spot might just find his feet and add something to the Tigers forward line.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Like him, reckon he'll improve sharply next season with another pre-season under the belt.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

A million times better than Gordon. Has great goal sense. Hopefully he will make it but needs to improve his fitness/aerobic capacity/

I wouldn't write off Gordon either, had a bad day but still has the tools IMO.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I think the idea that small forweard need to be lightning quick is part of the reason we struggle to find them.

Lloyd is not super fast, but his goal sense and awareness mean he can fill the role admirably.

How come we have been playing Kingy for the last 3 or 4 years then ;D

Agree. Gordon has been better than Lloyd recently, but really found it hard today. Of course he was picked up by a useful defender. May need a spell, but I reckon he has potential.

King was quick once, didn't he compete in the sprint one year? Injuries have taken their toll

Didn't just compete, he won.

Also agree that Lloyd needs to play the rest of the season. And it's way too early to write off Gordon.

Yep. Gordon was pretty good vs the Hawks imo. Both very much worth persisting with.
