he played like a player yet to be confused and strangled by Hardwicks game plan. he played free football like he enjoyed being out there. our recent new players like Vlas, ellis and conca also played like this in their early games. look at the change in them now. only a matter of time before this is coached out of Lloyd, when hardwick either plays him in the backline or gives him defensive duties in the forward line.

There is every chance that if somehow Cyril Rioli turned out for the Tigers that Dimma would play him off the half-back line?

spot on , before the Carlton game at the 3121 pr game interview I asked Mark Williams about recruiting smart mids and forwards and then playing them down back ,he said it is a lot easier to come in and have the play unfold in front of you .he called the hff a graveyard for young players. Flea laughed and said not when you're as good as he was .I think the jump from vfl to afl is so big now the young players need to come in play the position they're most comfortable in first .

You have to trust that you coaching panel knows what they are doing. Letting the player decide where he plays dosn't seem like a good plan to me. Coaches can sometimes see further down the road. With our current standard of play and complete lack of team unity and cohesion trust is hard to come by but what else have we got? Dud...delist? Sack the coach...start the rebuild again. Gotta hang tough just one more time I reckon.

Steady people, lets see a few months from the boy before loading him up with expectation.

Astbury kicked three goals in his debut game.......
As did Polo. Patience indeed BJ.

Both those guys did so as 18 year olds in their first season. Lloyd is a horse of entirely different colour. Was very impressive at Frankston at age 23

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

lucky Coburg were so *smile* that he kicked 6 against them, otherwise we wouldn't have known about him.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Loved the instinctive look over the shoulder - ie. i am going to nail this, lets see just how clear I am.

All instinct - lets see if they are able to coach it out of him. He'll be looking to go sideways by rd.22

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yea he's got plenty of natural instinct and goal smarts, but don't worry we will turn him into a retard.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Great commitment, and did some smart things, particularly in the first half.
Good follow up to his first game. No goals but was fairly prominent.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Deserves another game after tonight's effort. Lively and dangerous with Gordon.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

2 games in and Grigg should be shown highlights of both Lloyd's and Gordon's tackling from tonight. Couple of great tackles from both the boys tonight. Pity he didn't get that goal in the first qtr.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Thought he presented well all night but our dumb mids couldn't see how well he had position or simply kicked it over his head.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Started really well, but that knock seemed to slow him. Worth persisting with ahead of Jake imo.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

he'll get another few runs deinitely, was good tonight, linked to a few goals, smart player

He underwent the concussion test and passed but didn't seem right after that knock.
