Sam Lloyd

Sam is a good player with goal smarts, but I'm wondering how he fits into our plans, because baring injury we couldn't find a spot for him this season, and we are about to get another perma forward?

The bottom line is that he moves closer to the head of the queue once Miles, C.Ellis, and possibly Conca move on.

Personally I like him. He's versatile, can play as a crumbing forward, is great as a target across the half forward line and he can run through the middle.

He would get a game at the other 17 clubs easily.
I reckon if he can have a really good preseason and drop some kgs, he could be an option in the centre
He is faster then miles

In the position we are in keeping Lloyd as a 20-30 player on the list is a better option then the potential draft pick we’d receive, if we were rebuilding I’d let him go.

He's a versatile player an he makes our 22 - 26 options stronger.

Personally I like the idea of a forward line of Jack, Lynch, Caddy, Butler, Castagna and Lloyd with Higgins in the midfield.

He'll get his chance to be a part of a flag next year

Remarkable show of loyalty by LLoyd to re-sign when he could have jumped ship for a more secure best 22 spot. Shows he loves the club and appreciates the opportunity we gave him. In return he gives us great depth and versatility. Never lets the club down when he gets picked

And in hind site, given the sickness plus injury issues now known that were hampering some of the playing group. Sam was very unlucky not to be picked for the prelim. A fully fit S.Lloyd would have given more output than some of those we had out there, who clearly were off the boil.

100% agree. At the moment, I'd play him ahead of Castagna in 2019

If he is to remain at the club next year, he must be played in the guts like he has been in the 2nds.

One thing that would annoy me this year was that a player in the 2nds would dominate in a specific position, but once promoted would then be played in a totally different position and surprise surprise, play poorly.
