Rugby Union

Bloody hopeless

Still can't believe they don't do better at Rugby

In all aspects on and off the field

Well, the Springboks did win the Tri-Nations last year, beating both the Wallabies and the All Blacks in the process.

The South African Rugby Union just has some fundamental problems at the provincial level and the addition of the new franchise has just made things worse, so the in-fighting continues!!!

Yeah , and my S African mates have momentos of the World Cup they won

all over the house. Just makes me wonder why they don't just co operate

for the sake of the game,

Though in a way I sorta hope they don;'t ;D

Showing your evil side there TC  ;) ;D !!!

More good news coming from the NSWRU with the announcement (confirmation) tonight of Sam Norton-Knight (from the Brumbies, sorry) signing with the Tahs for the next two years.

I can't see NZ rugby getting weaker, ever

So a strong South Africa only goes against us

esp if we are watering down the strength of our teams

If I only had my time again, I would have stuck with playing Rugby

You are right TC, New Zealand rugby will never weaken, it is like religion over there.

It is just a shame about the South African sides as they really should be competitive given there is only soccer as a winter sporting alternative, the recruitment to rugby should be massive. I have absolutely no idea what the problem is over there.

But the Super 12 (14) is suppored to be the best provincial competition in the world, especially since it covers three of the most powerful and higher ranked unions (NZ - #1; Aus - #2; SA - #3) in world rugby. But so far it has only been won by us and the Kiwi's. And only a couple of teams at that (Brumbies, Crusaders and Blues have all monopolised the competition)

But for the competition to actually work all three unions have to have success at the provincial level and over the last few years the South African franchises have dropped the ball and they don't seem to be picking it up again.

But you really have to worry that when the Bulls beat the Stormers last weekend by 50 points and they can only get two players into the Springbok training squad but the Stormers can get eight or nine into the squad. Go figure ::) !!!

Definately, considering all South African rep teams have to manoevre their way through a pile of it.

Especially at the selection table, but I would have thought chosing on form would be a no-brainer?!!!

AAaaargh The Semi Final is up against the Tigers

I really wanted to cheer the Tahs on, maybe in the ad breaks

At least the Storm is on at 5.30

Damn !!

I will be at the game so I will have no way of knowing about the Tiges!!!

And honestly I could well be a little busy.....

I hadn't thought of that  ::)......

Having a true blonde moment (they happen quite regularly) ;D !!!

I like the gentleman part of that there Ready, but it really depends on the type of "fun" you are having  ;) ;D !!!

Which of course, has absolutely nothing to do with rugby in any way.......

As for fun, each to their own, but it's not necessarily my cup of tea. Anyone implying that I'm a gentleman has done their dough ;D

As they say, rugby is a thug's game played by gentlemen, and rugby league is a thug's game played by thugs

Ready said:

I like that and it is actually true (mostly)  ;D !!!

Among other things. Great moments in rugby: Ballymore, 1992. From memory the last Ballymore Test against the All Blacks. One of the last Saturday afternoon Tests too. In the first half Paul Carozza scored in the corner and Loe came in with the elbow, breaking his nose. Then right at the end Carozza ran around John Kirwan and went over for the winning try.

I remember that like it was yesturday Ready.

The image of Carozza standing up in the corner after scoring the try with his nose spead across his face and blood everywhere is one that will stick with me forever. Tough bugger Paul Carozza. The odd thing is I don't even remember if we won the match, I just remember the elbow to the face.

Queensland rarely get Bledisloe Cup games anymore, they tend to stick to the big stadium in Sydney, since 1999 when it was finished. And only two matches have actually been played (as part of the Tri-Nations) for the last few years anyway, so it was one in Sydney and one in the shakey isles.

Got my tickets for this years clash earlier this week....
