Rugby Union

Australia won 19-15 or thereabouts, having won by a point the week before. NZ won the dead rubber.

Sydney gets everything these days. Brisbane is lucky to get a Test against South Africa these days, and if they do it's at Lang Park! Twenty years ago that wouldn't have even been allowed, like the GAA not allowing anything "English" at Croke Park in Dublin.

Wouldn't be surprised if they knock down Ballymore and sell it for housing within the next ten years, which is a shame because I have some fond memories of the place from when I was a kid. Dad used to work on the ABC OB and I used to tag along. Back then they used to televise the Brisbane club competition -- Souths, Brothers, Easts, GPS etc. -- all the time and Chris Handy was one of the hosts. Dad was a member at Wests, who won the 1985 grand final against University (with Michael Lynagh) with a drop goal that went under the bar. Wests don't even wear yellow and green harlequin jumpers anymore. Amazing to see how far rugby has come in twenty years, have to say in a lot of ways I preferred it before professionalism.

Just watched the semi final from Christchurch.....

the Crusaders are just scary good  :nailbiting !!!

If you ignore the fact we didn't want them to win, they were absolutely fantastic.

The game was one sided but it was a great spectacle to watch because the Crusaders are just brilliant.

Assuming the Tahs win tomorrow, it is going to be very tough winning over there next Saturday, unfortunately :p !!!

Good luck!!!

And I have been proved wrong, Ben Tune, who I thought was a certainty to defect, has signed on with the Reds until the 2007 World Cup, for apparently substantially less than he was offered to jump to the Force.

Congrats on your victory TC, did you get a prize :clap ?!!!

I agree with you, Tune signing for the Reds is a huge bonus for them coming off this very ordinary season. It was also nice to hear of the loyalty he has showed towards Queensland by turning down an apparently more lucrative contract.

He has hit some really good form in the past few weeks and will be pushing for Wallaby selection, I hope.

I have always had a soft spot for Ben, I met him after a Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney, way back in 1996 (I think - the year Matt Burke blew his shoulder out scoring the wining try) and he was a very nice young man  ;) ;D !!!

Interesting to see that a war of words has broken out between NSW coach Ewen McKenzie and the ACT Brumbies CEO Rob Clarke over the recent signing of Sam Norton-Knight to the Waratahs. It seems the Brumbies are a little bitter at losing Norton-Knight, which is understandable, but he (Clarke) accused NSW of using money as a motivator to get what they wanted.

It seems the Brumby management are a little p!ssy that he has defected north, despite the fact he was third in line, behind current fly-half Steve Larkham and then Matt Giteau, for his favoured spot and NSW could offer him a starting position. Players are starting to realise that they don't necessarily have to play second or third fiddle any more if there is an opening at another franchise and they have their careers to think about, especially if they aren't getting any game time.

Clarke also accused NSW of over-paying Norton-Knight, which shouldn't really matter to him (but I think it bothered him that we had the money and he didn't) and is fairly uncomplimentary to the kid who is just trying to make his name in the sport and probably won't get a chance to do that in Canberra, given the quality of players in front of him. The Waratahs have lost players to Perth recently and therefore have more in our budget which should be spent on the best available talent that the team requires.
Just my opinion  ;D !!!

P.S. Looking forward to the game tonight - GO WARATAHS :clap !!!

It's all going to get a bit bitchy until the dust settles

At least the 3rd string players will get a chance to show their wares

Must be frustrating being fit and not getting a start up position

Like our Tucky last year
