Rugby Union

Boy was I excited, I bounced around for 5 mins

Not an easy feat at 120Kg with stuffed knees ;D

Still on cloud 9

Anyways back to the Union

Do you have any chance of seeing the final live?

Is it like AFL where both teams get some tickets?

Don't spose you would like to queue over there for them ;D

Snowball in hell of seeing the final live, there will be some tickets (minimal) available in Australia, but I just don't have the money for the trip across the ditch so I will be left to barrack from afar, not unlike I do for the Tigers  ;) !!!

I hope you didn't hurt yourself leaping around like a crazy person?

The guy infront of me last night bounced around after the win, a little like you described, and promptly fell over the seats infront of him. I do believe the demon drink was involved a little and I don't think he felt anything beyond embarrassed, if that :-[ !!!

Was pretty funny to watch from behind though  :smiledevil !!!

Hehe I'll bet

No I was OK, reminds me of my youth

Ah Blue Light Discos......

Pogoing to The Angels

" A brand new suit of clothes for a very special day, a very very very special day !!!!!!!!!!!!"

The match itself was a fairly hard fought in-and-under affair with no real line breaks and was fantastic to watch despite not being particularly "pretty". becuase we out-muscled them, and they have the biggest forward pack in the Super 12.

Man of the Match was a definately deserving David Lyons, with Lote Tuquri and the ever-present Phil Waugh not far behind. But I don't think there were any passengers out there last night. They all worked extremely hard, including the back line at the break down and in defence, which was suprub all night. As it has been all year in fact.

I will give you a more comprehensive summery tomorrow, but I am going to bed right now to get a couple of hours of much needed beauty sleep  ;) ;D !!!

The forwards were fantastic as they have been all year, and only got better as the game wore on. Even when the bench was emptied the quality didn't seem to slip. They did push us around a little and their line out was superior at times (they were quite a bit taller) but the in-and-under scrumaging work we kicked their butts, which led to excellent ball retention.

The two tries in the first half were both a little comical. Mat Rogers kicking for clearence from our in goal, kicked it straight into an approaching Bull's chest. He promptly fell on the ball and got the try. Not a lot of skill involved there, just being in the right place at the right time and exerting the right amount of pressure on the kicker.

The first Waratah try to Morgan Turinui, was just as ridiculous. After the Waratahs flubbed a line break, the Bulls kicked for touch, didn't get it and Turinui put up a mid-field bomb, which the Bulls players watched bounce right in front of them, none of them even looked like making a play for the ball. Instead the ball bounced straight into the on coming hands of Morgan Turinui who sprinted 30m to the try line and put the ball down under the posts.

Nathan Greys' try after half time, was a little more traditional, he just put his head down and shoved the defence back over the try line, taking three Bulls' players with him. He has made his career by using his head a battering ram and this was no exception. It wasn't spectacular but it was five points nonetheless and we never gave up the lead from half time onwards.

It was a bit like trench warfare at times with the Bulls pack trying to suffocate the Waratah attack and doing a pretty good job at it for large portions of the match. Although watching numerous line breaks from a No. 8 is always entertaining and David Lyons was fantastic in both defence (which held really well under some intense pressure) and attack, getting the ball away to his outside runners like Tuquri and Turinui.

All in all it was a great match to be at, the atmosphere was awsome and the victory was very sweet. Now NSW have the unenviable task of trying to beat the Crusaders on their home turf (although home finals are historically no advantage to victory), with a very hostile crowd. But it is our first Final appearance in 10 years so maybe anything can happen.
GO WARATAHS  :clap :clap !!!

It unfortnately looks like Wendell Sailor will be coming to the Waratahs, which is without doubt the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. We had a perfectly good, actually fantastic under-21 Wallaby representative utility back in Cameron Shephard and didn't sign him or wouldn't give him a positional guarantee and yet we can sign an over-the-hill league convert, guarantee his position because he wouldn't come here if we didn't, who has never really figured out how to play union.

No wonder Shephard left, he was getting screwed out of a job, if this is true, which a really hope it isn't  :( !!!

It also looks like Brumby scrum half Matt Henjak has been fielding offers from Queesland as well as the Western Force. He is a logical move given he will constantly be playing second fiddle to George Gregan for the next two years, up until the 2007 World Cup, when Georges' contract finishes. Henjak is the obvious and best next Wallaby in the scum half, so he needs to be on the field permanently during the Super 14 next year, to be ready for the call up, when it happens.

I've always really liked Wendell, but he hasn't hit the hights I had hoped

Strange he would be moving on, thought he was a Queenslander through and through

What are the plans for the Final QC?

Is it a 5.30 start? Going to a pub or a club, or a big screen at a ground?

He should go back to the NRL where he belongs.I see the Warratahs got beaten by 10.I would have thought that was a creditable result.

The scoreline was flattering to the Tahs because the Crusaders were home 10 mins into the second half.

They were simply the better side, didn't allow the Tahs to have any ball in the first half and rarely made a mistake and continued attacking. The Waratahs were never allowed to play their game plan and therefore looked a little ordinary.

I am realistically disappointed (not a great weekend  :'( ) but I am happy that the Tahs made it this far, given their previous form of falling over half way through a season and choking but we were just beaten by the better team on the night.

The Crusaders will dominate All Black selection next week. My did thinks they should just start with the 'sader 15 and add a few others for appeal and a slightly more rounded team!!!

They were the best team and as much as this hurts to say, deserved to win the Super 12.
My pre-seaon tip was right, unfortunately  ::) !!!

Thanks Queen C. I gave up watching after the first half. It was a shellacking. Although from the sounds of it the Tahs fought back in the 2nd half but all too little too late. A bummer of a weekend in sport all round. :'(

Sorry to hear your guys lost. Just spent 2 weeks in NZ and became heartily sick of hearing about their Crusaders. :'(

They scored late tries when Canterbury had wrapped the game up already mb
Yeh TC,didn't realise, nothing like a bit of late scoring to give respectability to the scoreboard.

Your welcome Crystal, it was a shellacking but they should be congratulated for making the final. I am not accecpting the loss, but we were comprehensively beaten by far and away the best Super 12 side ever (5th tournament victory), and this was our first Final appearence. They will (hopefully) learn from this and go on to bigger and better things in the years to come!!!

However, I think that for this to happen they need to play more attacking football. Watching the game again it became abundently clear that the Crusaders were just waiting for the kick, which was employed way to often, for a turnover in possession and then they proceeded to counter-attack from there. In the last fifteen minutes or so, they 'saders definately took their foot off the gas and we attacked a lot more thus the bonus tries.

But when you have an opposition with the highest attacking record in the comp, you don't keep deliberately turning over the ball because with that power-house side they will destroy you, which is what happened. And if you have arguably the best winger in world rugby in your side (Lote Tuquri) then you would think getting him the ball to him as quickly as possible, so he can make some ground would be extremely important, but he never saw the ball on Saturday night.

It was a disappointing match but it sets us up for next year and hopefully we will be able to go one better!!!
