I would only be focusing on the forwards who have a decent sample size, very little can be read into the other players listed.

Perhaps it is because we used to get flogged by the good sides, so we throw defenders forward against them to try something different.

Take the raw numbers then, Nahas has kicked 34 goals in 37 matches (against top 8 sides) versus 63 in 40 matches (against bottom 8 sides). That is a huge differential in anyone's language.

Saying that Nahas kicks more goals against weaker teams than he does against stronger teams is like saying that I post on PRE more when I am at work than I do when I am at home. So what?

I think this differential is possibly the least relevant statistic I've ever seen. Of the only six players with positive numbers, one of them is Adam McPhee.
Nuff said.
