Robin Nahas

I have no doubt that the team can improve its overall goals output.

The players have taken great strides over the last few years, since they were forced to be "Richo-unreliant".
(Much to derision, I told everyone that we'd be better off long-term sans Richo.)
Also, over the last two years, being less "Jack-reliant", with more midfield goal kickers.

We will continue to improve by recruiting those who can score multiple goals against top clubs, as well as ordinary or lesser clubs.

And, of course, continuing to improve supply.
If the ladder was decided on scoring shots we would have finished second. Shots at goal are not an issue. We can do without Nahas. He is one dimensional in that he can't be rotated through the middle, unlike say Edwards. (He is also one sided)

More than happy to keep Robbie at Tigerland. A decent player. Why on earth would we try to trade him? I hope the rumours aren't true.

How is he not at least in our best 25 in anyone's opinion. Kicks goals - period. Goals win games - period.

Please suggest a plausible alternative to Robbie Nahas and I'd entertain the idea of a trade.

King doesn't kick enough goals and isn't good enough to play permenantly in the middle. He beats Robbie on pressure, tackling, shutting down attacker HBF, 2nd effort and hardness. Great attributes sure, but makes him sound like a hard nut back pocket and we have one of those. Small forwards should be judged solely on how many goals they kick. Other than Milne and Betts, who has more consisently kicked goals over the last 2 years in the genuine small forward role.

I love that Shank is finally getting his act together, but Nahas has been value for 4 years. Edwards has come good in the last 11 weeks of the season, so I'd suggest we just steady on.

I'd only trade Nahas if the replacement is of more value to the team than Nahas' 35 goals and good luck getting that.

Just read the stat sheet from an earlier post. Kicks goals against rabble. So good for %, but doesn't really win us games. Might be willing to be a little more flexible regarding a trade. Still reckon he's not a dud by any means and worth something decent to someone. Humble Pie isn't right up there as one of my favourite pies.....

Robbie Nahas plays a very old-fashioned position for Richmond - crumbing forward pocket. He gets high from time to time (fair enough) but is way too light to play in the middle.

Who played crumbing forward pocket for Sydney this year? In the grand final? For Hawthorn?

Who at Sydney or Hawthorn is under 80kg? Which of their small forwards cannot present and catch. Edwards is way more now.

Wallace left us with a roster of runts. A rabble of ribs. We can't fix that in five minutes. And now that we have a much fuller (and rapidly improving) depth of experience we need to keep a slot pen for a development mid - crumbing small forward with a future.

Two sidedness would help Nahas evade the inescapable conclusion that he is too light. We should move Rockin Robin.

Still kicked almost 40 goals with those deficiencies.

Yes against the bottom teams, those with weaker and less pressured defences. He is suspect under pressure. Keep him if there is no reasonable trade but he is dispensable.

Is there any player that plays better against the better teams?

There you go. LTRTR to the rescue again. I wasn't indicating that he should be playing better against better teams on average, but his differential stood out starkly this year. Additionally, I felt that Nahas kicked a lot of his goals late in games this year when it was all over. Often he was hardly sighted early in the games. Don't know if LTRTR has stats on disposals and goals by quarter. Point is Nahas struggles when the pressure is on, always has, and as we become more competitive and hopefully make finals this may become more of a liability unless he can improve that aspect of his game. Again he's not hopeless, he's best 22 atm, but just feel he's at his highest value right now, and if a good trade was on the table, he'd be high on the list of players you could trade and cover, especially now we've recruited Knights.

Nahas has a huge tank IMO.

And when he was playing his best footy was when he was running and using his tank to get away from his opponents.

When he stays inside the 50, thats when others would be a better fit for the side.

But if the side wants him to roam a little further and use his tank, is when hes very important to the side IMO.

I am not sure if it was role related for the team, but his gut running is not there in all his games. I want to see him run and roam a lot further, to get rid of his opponents and assist us when we rebound from defence.

There you have it, Nahas clearly has an inferior record againist the better teams, substantially so. It's been my opinion for some time that Nahas' game would unravel in the heat of finals football and the stats back it up. If we were offered a chance to improve our drafting position in the top 30 at the expense of Nahas, we would be mad not to take it. One of the deals being mooted on the Blair Witch thread is pick 9 for pick 12 & 13, if that fails to satisfy, I would have no hesitation in throwing in Nahas.

Good player with decent currency. Better than king in my view and would have to be something decent for a trade.

Proven durable goalkicker

I watched the replay of the Rd 10 Richmond StKilda game on FOX last night.

It made me realise howimportant Nahas is. He bobbed up a couple of times at very impoetant stages and kicked goals.
