Robbie Tarrant

He will be 33 in April. Sheesh.
On the bright side, could be a Brian Lake scenario ... 11 years at a middling Bulldogs. Off to the contending Hawks at 31. Three flags in three years.

Just read that he’s only played 174 games, I’ll take that as a positive as I believe he had shoulder issues early in his career .

FWIW in his draft year FJ strongly believed he would be our second pick , Frank did get a lot of the top 20 picks correct, however he didn’t expect a young WA lad named Rance lasting to our 2nd pick

I wouldn’t be surprised if the arrangements around
CJ ‘s transfer have already been set at pick 20, with a a further understanding that we wouldn’t put in an improved bid.
Tarrant’s election to come to us shouldn’t complicate that.
Caddy for Tarrant seems fair.

Definitely brings up different options with North now.

Do we roll Tarrant into a trade for CCJ, maybe included a pick back to us, we won't push too hard but we'll take the Chol compo. Or do we push for a better scenario for CCJ, depending on what our contract offer is, maybe they get a compo pick, which means they give us a bit more for the CCJ trade.

Its going to be interesting to see which way this plays out and what each club ends up with at the end of this, but seems that at a minimum it will be in Tarrant, out CCJ, but what the picks swaps will be , who knows.
Screw Norf as much as we can , probably cost us another million overall with Dusty ( though hes earns it) because thier club is a 4th rate VFL club and nobody wants to go there , they end up offering ridiculous contracts that end up costing other clubs more then they should.

screw em

Ok, this tells us that the club are loading up for a another crack at a flag next year. You don't get a 32yo unless you want a shot at a premiership.

It also tells us that we might be looking at trading our picks for experienced mids (ie Tom Mitchell or Cerra).

FWIW I hope we use our picks in the draft. I don't want us replicating Hawthorn post 2015.
Don’t fully agree on this TST.
I reckon it’s more shoring up the backline for next year allowing Balta and Miller to develop further with an big bodied experienced player next to them.

We were going to draft Tarrant at pick 18 but Nth Melb took him at 15. We too Rance instead.

Finally finds his way home

Didnt the RFC have a crack at Tarrant a few years back now 5 or 6 years back as well or am I off the mark?

He is insurance to buy Balta and Miller another year and to probably help with development of any junior Key back we might also bring in.

He is also there as a Dice roll to try and help us pinch another flag whuilst rebuilding our midfield and forward line.

If we get Tarrant maybe we are looking at drafting a Highly rated Key Forward such as Amiss or JVR and then hitting the elite mids.

Maybe we have our eye on a junior KPD for next year.

I dont know I'm just throwing random thoughts out there.

Come on EZY. You not interested in a flag next year?

I am, but offering a 32 year old 2 years,

is way more than twice as bad as offering a 30 yo a 2 yr deal.

Not saying its a disaster, or that Robbie might not get a premiership medal,

but if im being honest,

It rocks my confidence in the recent adage,

that everything the rfc does, is the right thing to do.

to be honest, Robbie Tarrant is one of those players that ive never ever noticed play.

FMD some people just don’t get it. Tarrant plays a role that we don’t have anyone else for. Age is irrelevant.

Geesook paid x3 1st rounders for Cameron though. We get Tarrant and Talia for free. Big difference.
Cameron wasn't the old one Geelong picked up. Higgins, Jenkins and Smith in last couple of years. Pointless.

Very durable over the last 5/6 years .

hopefully he stays fit ,

Im excited that we are clearly going for the flag again.
