Robbie Tarrant

Ok, this tells us that the club are loading up for a another crack at a flag next year. You don't get a 32yo unless you want a shot at a premiership.

It also tells us that we might be looking at trading our picks for experienced mids (ie Tom Mitchell or Cerra).

FWIW I hope we use our picks in the draft. I don't want us replicating Hawthorn post 2015.

I don't agree with the recruitment of Tarrant but he's on board now, I hope he has 2 great seasons and plays in a flag.

I wish he was 26 but he’s a good player and reckon he can give good service for a couple of years. We obviously think we are still in the flag window.

So no free agency compo for Chol then, that is OK but IMO CCJ will go PSD
The compensation based on the AFLs history with Richmond would have been a 6th round and a packet of chips.

I've always rated him as a major problem for us whenever we played North so good to see him on board. We must be confident his body can hold up for a couple more years without soft tissue concerns. This will be a nice change from the bad run our defenders have had in the past couple of years. Having half a season break with that kidney operation will freshen him up nicely. Good selection.

We've likely got Jack R, Cotch & maybe even Shedda for only another 12 months. I'm happy for us to chase the prize again.

I really, really hope this isn't a 'jumping the shark' moment for us. Just can't see the logic in this.

Not sure how you can’t see the logic in this? If we didn’t get one of Tarrant or Talia then it would have been poor list management to go into next year with just Balta and Grimes.

Trade for a younger KPD and/or get Miller fast-tracked.

Will Talia get a gig elsewhere? If worse comes to worse, could be rookie listed. Depth sorted in the short term.

Are you willing to give up one of the high draft picks for said younger KPD? Miller has played one game in 5 years on the list. He’s highly unlikely to make it.
If we cut him OK, but if not, it's time to let him develop in the 1sts. Tarrant's got some Rancey-type movements but 2 years at age 32.....geez.

Fair enough but everyone on here lampooned Geelong for the same thinking
Sorry wrong,we lampooned Geelong for never using their early picks and instead going old all the time,we clearly have been using them and in fact have several early picks this year, not remotely the same thing or tactics.

To quote Taz , its one in a row, we’ve not been down the recruiting veterans road since we’ve been successful.
