Richmond vs St Kilda - Game Day Thread

It is painful to watch after the success we have enjoyed from 2017 onwards.

Agree. But we need to start seriously focusing on the midfield. We did not do that last draft. Needs to start this year.
If Trent and Shane don't produce in the next four games, then a tap on shoulder should come. Play two youngsters. We really can't have our eggs tied up with Dion and Dusty. Our era of 3 flags were amazing and mighty proud for us supporters, players, admin, etc. We really need to strike the iron while its hot.

So we wouldn’t move Balta down back after Grimes goes off and Balta has struggled up front ? Especially as King’s kicked 4 in a quarter ?

Wake up Dimma.
Balta had a sore knee from 2nd quarter.

Both he and Lynch were basically raped by the Saints defenders all day yet got f all in comparison

What an insipid last quarter.... we were lucky we even got that consolation goal through Bolton!

We’ve rarely played well at Marvel Stadium. Sides outrun us there as we have not always been the quickest team athletically .So no need to panic about today.
Games for Dow and Gibcus will continue to help them learn however Cotch looks as if he’s willing his body to do what it has done since he started his career but it’s not responding. He needs to make the call to finish on his terms.

Gibcus & Tarrant were like as ship without a skipper after Grimes exit.

An I’m not that upset. I couldn’t decide if we’d make the 8 or not this year. Erred on the positive and went with us finishing 7th in the PRE ladder competition. Wasn’t as bullish as some though with predictions of Premierships, finishing 3rd or whatever.

We could still make the 8. Not over yet ! But we’ve got a lot of re constructive work to do regardless. That includes playing and non playing personnel …and over a number of years too.

Been a great ride. Pumped about our club.

Just like Cook at Geelong was, think Gale is the key to our next few years and subsequent fortunes. Must keep him.

We were outcoached in the second half big time.

We switched play out of the backline once or twice.
Once we ran out of gas 10mins into the 3rd after butchering 3 or 4 golden chances to seal the game we slowed down the ball movement out of the backline and that forced us down the line and then we were smashed going the other way. It was a massive tactical error and cost us the game in the end

the 11 goals straight. R1 similarities.
This is 2016 stuff.

Dont mind losing at all - its the complete one way traffic without any resistance that's so embarassing. I said it before and many times, something not right deep down within the coaches. Not Dimma but the lot of them.
I think most on here are underestimating the damage that was done within the club when Dimma strayed.

The whole team culture was built on trust, respect and caring for each other. Its hard for the players to live that culture after the coach did what he did to his wife and family.

The most disappointing was our lack of ground ball wins especially in that last half. When we did win it was fumbly and handballed to no one or opposition. Agree with others. Baker having very little impact up forward. Needs to gonto backline to use his clean hands. If we are going to play Hugo out of the backline then i prefer Mansell's hardness and dash.

Yeah a lot of that’s true, but it doesn’t seem to affect Geelong Don. Gale is on record as saying they want to constantly be competitive. No re builds.

That’s not gonna be the case. And it’s gonna be a pretty reasonable re build to undertake too. Especially through the midfield and up forward.

Yes Red, very true.

But if we took the Geelong model we give up, let’s say, at least 2 of Gibcus, Browne and Sonsie.

For what though? The chance to stay relevant, but at the end of the day not really contend?

We did the hard yards for 37 years before becoming legitimate, through going for quick fixes before finally getting it right.

3,4,5 years of pain is a lot more palatable to me
