Rich Vs Adel (March 11th, 2011)-Teams [Merged]

The word unprofessionalism is an appropriate one.
I think the lack of veterans in our side is obvious. Delidio and Newman looked dis-interested throughout the afternoon- hardly setting an example for the younger ones. I think the entire list is complacent and thought the phrase "ease your way into the season" means: rock up, have a jog, a kick or handball here or there without getting hit. Just a poor attitude from the tiges "senior" players. I think, while the game is very off-putting, this is not a true indication where we are at. I just think the players have mishandled the pre season. The only player who has taken a real go at the pre season is Cotchin who has a senior and humble head on him. Barring injury, Cotchin will win our best and fairest by a mile. He is our best player and will be elite by years end. Poor guy won't get much support though. Maybe occasionaly from Lids, Jack and Martin.

How could this be possible from a side that bloody finished 15th?? If they had won the premiership and were having a hangover i could understand but bloody heck, you'd think they would be tearing out of their clothes trying to improve and show they have had enough of embarassing defeats pre season or not. Errors i can understand as we have a young list. Lack of effort i cannot.

Grigg with a game high 29 touches.

Foley with 23.
Foley wasn't bad. If you were looking for a highlight he was probably it. Worked hard inside.

Ok Craigie babes just got home after a visit to the game.
......
Craigiebabes to bemoan yet again why this dud was still getting games.
Frankly the most distubring thing on this thread is Craig referring to himself twice as Craigiebabes!

Did Newman play?

The thing I noticed the most tonight is how bad Angus Graham is. He is complete dud! Make no mistake about it he is a waste of space. We would be better to go into round 1 with Vickery and Post sharing the ruck and resting in the forwardline.

The other thing that concerns me is the lack of any kind of game plan. The only set play I seen was kick it long to our ruckman (Graham) near the wing who couldn't catch a cold in Antartica. Big useless clumsy dud! He will be the new McMahon of 2011 mark my word!

Bring on Derickx and bring on some kind of game plan that includes the following.

Forward Pressure
Spreading
Leading
Sheperding
A ruckman who isn't useless.
Pretty damning there cracker, and I wasn't there to refute anything you say, but my understanding is that Gus is carrying a pretty ordinary ankle at the moment that could be hampering his performance.

I do know that his form seems to fluctuate wildly throughout seasons, so I can only hope that his injury and performance improve quickly.

a proper backline setup. (both to stop the opposition, and to launch fwd thrusts)
running in numbers
crumbing, tackling small fwds.
fwd presses, keeping the ball in our fwd line longer, causing turnovers and goals
improved skills
improved decisions due to everyone knowing the game plan and where to run, and which areas to kick the ball to

basic footy aspects. simple things that are lacking.
you want to see ur team improving in these areas. we are non existant in these areas, let alone improving.....year after year aftr year....

big deal. we lost by 11 goals and your bringing up *smile* stats, Grigg is *smile* and Foley is half the footballer he was before he got injured

the 'sooking' posts, as you put it, are actually the honest ones.

I've never understood why many people on this board would prefer to be lied to. Are they that fragile?

Me too. Just call it like you see it. No Public Relations End.

Is it possible today was a bit of a bluff ?
Considering it was at Carlscums home base and they surely would have been taking notes.
Just out of curiosity. Was todays set up mostly a one on one contest ?

A little bit of food for thought.....

Ok....booked seats for annual trip south to watch tigers v saints on April fools day at the G.

After reading a few posts on here I was ready to cancel flights.

However sat my way thru all the posts and with respect to those loyal dudes who went to game and came away with same old same old frustration I did get a few positives which put a smile on my face.

First the biggest negative I read.  Gus....WTF...looked the goods in a few games last year but appears to have gone backwards. With the slow development of big fellas this is inexcusable.  My patience running out.

Positives.....biggest Foley back up and running...a massive yipee

Vickery seems to have stepped up...big bonus

Dusty and cotch look set for big seasons.  Rance in most peoples opinion has looked ok....batchelor, Belgic and conca looking good pickups.

Agree with a lot of posters re the frustration with our kick in strategies or lack thereof.......modern game hard to keep up with but surely we have several structures orbgame plans in placebfor bringing the ball back from kickins

Glad tonites effort happened now as a few would have had a wake up call from Dimma

Honest? I what way?

The ones that actually see the team for what they are at the moment and that is clueless, lazy and weak!!

I actually thought DH said that the players finally started to understand the gameplan and that is why we improved towards the end of the year. Wouldn't you think that after another pre season they would actually have learnt a bit more about the "GAME PLAN". Seems to be either DH has changed it or they all had their memories wiped.

Depends on how you see it.

I am being totally honest in my appraisal, anything in my report that was dishonest?

I just have my expectations in check. I am not expecting Rome to be built in a day and I remember last year when the World was ending and it didn't end up that bad in the end.

Some of the sooking posts are well over the top for this time of year. Reports are Damien was rightly not impressed with the effort, maybe a few of the players saving themselves. Let's see how they respond now. Season yet to begin, long way to go.

You're kiddin surely. You trying to tell me 2 weeks away from the season starting and we decide to put in a crap performance just to throw off Carlton. God help us!

Listened to the game on the net. Same old Tigers with little idea. Still there were one or two positives and after all it was essentially a practise match. Lets hope for a big improvement and get behind the team for Round 1.

yeah, your right.. we didnt hit a target all day, we couldnt take a contested mark in forward 50 and an average footballer kicks 7 on your best defende..
yeah Carlton dont know this!!!

Disappointing result.
Didn't expect to win this anyway.....but would have liked to be more competitive.

Good signs from Foley and Grigg.....Riewoldt got through unscathed.

It's just a practice match.....I don't expect them to be world beaters so settle down.
Fair dinkum.
