this is not a true indication where we are at. .

I like this quote.

As ive said a coupla times already im more buoyant about our juniors than i have been for a while.

If anything i would describe todays effort as dishonest.

I am yet to read this thread entirely. Not sure I can after reading a few posts.

can someone give me the final score.

cheers

I noticed at Shepparton last week the backs with the ball were faced with a lot of standing targets and lack of movement and support. Was that the case at the game today.
This has been an issue for years. It staggers me that something so obvious has not been rectified.

The thing I noticed the most tonight is how bad Angus Graham is. He is complete dud! Make no mistake about it he is a waste of space. We would be better to go into round 1 with Vickery and Post sharing the ruck and resting in the forwardline.

The other thing that concerns me is the lack of any kind of game plan. The only set play I seen was kick it long to our ruckman (Graham) near the wing who couldn't catch a cold in Antartica. Big useless clumsy dud! He will be the new McMahon of 2011 mark my word!

Bring on Derickx and bring on some kind of game plan that includes the following.

Forward Pressure
Spreading
Leading
Sheperding
A ruckman who isn't useless.

The main things i keep reading are turnovers & lack of intenisity,i feel 18 again as we have been making the same mistakes since Hitler last paid his gas bill

Ok well the first positive was that it was a pre season game and you could see there was still elements of trialling going on.

Some great improvement has been made in some lesser type players that will fill our depth chart as the year progresses.

Foley is well and truly back. Martin has improved.

Conca, Batchelor and Helbig have added to our squad straight away and will be players. Derickx has shown some great stuff too.

Anyone deeply hurt by today has higher expectations than I do. I expect to finish around 13th. I would be happy with that finish if we blood some more kids, develop some more second tier players and limit the beltings to 50 points rather than the 100 point smashings we were getting. We didn't show up from the start today, then played a bit of good footy but the fell asleep again.

This end of the world dramatics by some on here is comical for mine. Reminds me of Round One last year. By the end of the year there was more positives than negatives. Long footy season ahead my friend.

Good post, improved my mood slightly from deeply depressed to just depressed

Would hate to think that Cuz was such a big influence that they are missing his nous already. He was forever prepared to shepherd and delay releasing the ball before taking a hit to the receiving player's advantage. Maybe the examples of gut running on the training track is having an affect on their efforts in the games.

Unlike many on here, I think Hardwick knew when he took over, he had one player over 25 who belonged on an afl list. Newman. The rest needed turning over. It's a massive job.

I reckon he has has looked at the fixture and realized we have no chance for he first 5 rounds, and treated the pre-season like it was December. Played everybody on the list and had no intent to do anything other than get a few k's into the players and have a look at 40 something players. Very wise compared to Collingwood, who for some bizarre reason seem to want to start the season a month early. This will haunt them in august, mark my words.

So the tigers will ease into the season losing the first 5, before finding their best 22, and hit their straps around mid season, before running out of steam with young legs at the end of the season.

No good reason to expect more than about 8 wins for the season, but we can hope to blood many new young players like Conca, Batchelor and Hebig, along with sorting out who can play from last years recruits.

If you manage your expectations to that level, around 8 wins, and none for the first few rounds, you may find some cause for optimism.
Most sensible Post on here for a fair while.

Any danger of a kick in strategy?

What are paying leppa 100k per year for?

Here,s a clue. We,ve had kicking in problems since Mark Lee retired,Compounded by clubs knowing who to "Leave alone" deep in the pocket for the kick in.

Yep ...definitely dramatics alright.

Geez....sooking over a practice match, and I thought the Bummer supporters were bad.

Face the facts we're still bottom 4 and Dimma hasn't even started his 2nd season yet !!

The only sook I had today was standing around a deplorable looking oval on Scumton's land. WTF have they done to it??

I went today and was pretty shocked at how we played.

We are still along way away from matching it with the better teams in the competition. But what shocked me the most was the lazy unaccountable football we played today.

Apart from our skill erorrs and constant turnovers we still fail as a team to run hard for the ball carrier. Never do we run in groups of 2 or 3 to give the ball carrier multiple options. Its just plain lazy football. We never spread from the contest. Adelaide were superb in doing that today. There was numerous times that they would take the ball from one end of the ground to the other, and each time hitting a target or finding a team mate in space.

Being undersized, inexeperienced or just plain crap at football I can tolerate but being lazy is no excuse.

Only players who can hold their heads up high tonight are Martin, Foley, Grigg, Conca, Helbig and Post.

i just want to reinstate the fact that it was a nab challenge match...

yeah but when we see the turnovers and undiscipline destory us like it has in the past and no improvment and DH talking about jack to kick less goals the object of the game is to score more than your opponents and with our crap defence turnovers and bad discipline of course were going to see unhappy posts im still and always will be 100% behind the tiges

Glad I could help! :hihi

We'll improve on last years output, make no mistake. At teh same time, we'll develop more players further.

If anyone was thinking finals this year, they need to take a longer look at what we have done the past two years.

We have turned over more players than anyother club. We have drafted as much as anyother club. What more do we want? It will take time. Lot's of people forget the past regimes and the shortcuts and dishonesty that surrounded this club. We have a regime that is honest, works hard and won't take any shortcuts to hinder future success.

Let's take a deep breathe and enjoy the journey.

I believe all these challenge matches are good for getting the oddomoter running on the boys and introducing afl level to the young guys so the style of game etc really doesnt phase me.. its during the H&A season that gets me fired up.

the 'sooking' posts, as you put it, are actually the honest ones.

I've never understood why many people on this board would prefer to be lied to. Are they that fragile?
