Rhyan Mansell welcome to Tigerland

Obviously Dimma has Nigel playing some sought of role , however I’ll take the role of Sonsie where he gets the footy and hits targets over Nigel’s defensive role

Dimma pots Cumbo for whatever reason yet everytime he's asked about Mansell he can't hold in his stiffy. Work that one out.

I heard he had a great pre-season with plaudits for a super attitude and won the Richmond man award, or something along those lines. Thus got selected first up.

I have no idea why he plays anywhere but back pocket. Trying to turn him into something he is not. The club is doing him a disservice playing him in positions he is out of his depth.

Unbelievable he is played before Sonsie, Ross, Dow.

Must be sitting around playing pass the bong with Dimma
Give Mansell a participation certificate and *smile* him off to the VFL Never to be seen on the AFL stage again

It’s fine from my view to have defensive rôle players when we were winning. Seems to me a waste of space when we are being beaten fairly easily as is the case. How do you define how good a job he is doing when it is totally irrelevant to the result?

I said this a few weeks ago and got howled down. Mansell is a good VFL player, and even then it’s in defence.
Yep - not at AFL level. Tries his guts out, trains hard, runs hard but just isn’t good enough. No shame in that - is what it is.

We’ve just got to stop selecting him hoping he’ll suddenly become an AFL level player by some miracle.

And because Hardwick has become stubborn about it, the only way that can happen is if Mansell is either delisted or retires from AFL level. We’ve heard this song before with Morris and Aarts.

Bit of a pattern - Hardwick likes these blue collar type footballers that aren’t naturally gifted but work hard. Probably saw his own playing career like that.

Reality is to make it at AFL level, you need to be more than just a hard worker.

Frawley used to do it a lot, too. Possibly for very similar reasons. It comes off occasionally like with King and Marlion. Hardwick possibly takes his example from Sheedy, who made it work a few times.
