Rhyan Mansell welcome to Tigerland

Dimma loves the battler who’s not upto AFL standard playing in the forward line
The experiment started with Morro it was a fail then George who was good through the :cupgold:cupgold:cupgoldthen his form dropped off significantly
Enter FAarts a pure VFL footballer nothing more Dimma still persisted with it we sometimes even saw the FAarts George duo that also failed
Experiment has been so successful Not! Dimma in his wisdom finds Mansell who’s no good wants to turn this battler into an AFL footballer
Why is Dimma trying to reinvent the wheel forwards must play in the forward 50 Battlers have no place there They play in the backline or in the vfl

Yes, sure, but if you go back as far as Jake King, he succeeded.

Nigel laid 7 tackles, in what was his best game in his new forward role. Happy to see him stay in the side and keep improving .

Well, I did say I'm happy to see him get more opportunities. Like many on here, I see some upside and am not one of his persistent knockers; I've defended him before. But, in general, SFs need that combination of high speed, goal sense, ability to compete in the air with a leap, and refined kicking skills. I think that missed dribble goal really cut me up, but Cumbo missed a late easy set-shot and a pass over a defender to Lynch, and Dusty failed to convert from a 45m set-shot too. Just one goal needed to pinch that win.

He's worth persevering with while MRJ and Judson get more time to build up and develop. But it's a combo of different types that can make SFs dangerous.

Started brightly but faded. Still, he looked AFL class at times. 6SI.

Considering no one is bagging him he must have done alright. I'm a fan and hope this will be his break out year.

Only thing I could seriously fault him for was that pass to Tarantino instead of taking the shot himself. It wasn't Jaaack or the Dusty one he was passing to but a bloke with a seriously ordinary goal kicking talent. Gotta take ownership of your opportunities Nigel.

I liked his game- along with Cumberland they have that inate ability to make things happen.

He reminds me of Baker, no frills player who will scrap, has pace and hurt factor.

It’s TT’s ball drop when taking set shots. It’s horrendous. When he was taking that shot he was holding the footy with the bottom point tilted too far forward rather towards him. You end up kicking more of the belly of the ball and have less control of the direction you want the kick to go.

Yep noticed that too. It’s one of the basics you learn as a kid - how to hold the footy. Did the recruiters not do their homework on this guy?!

I have never really found Mansell convincing. But, he is showing improvement and an ability to learn. The way he is playing I could now be convinced.

Had a go last night when others were woeful.

Shouldve taken responsibility for that shot at goal that he easrned.

If hes playing as a small forward hes gotta take his opportunities when they arise.

I SO agree. That's old football now. Every forward should seek to find space so the ball-carrier can see options and hit up the best one. That's certainly how McCrae has the skunks play. SFs, like Elliot and even tiny Hill, are often the targets because of their speed which enables them to run into space in an open FL. It's why Crows are such a rapid improver; because Rachele and Rankine are targets too, not just the talls.

Instead we are awfully predictable - nearly always bombing it to Lynch who is 2/3 out ... or Jack or Ryan if TL is not about. The opposition defence knows exactly what we are going to do 9 times out of 10. And with not 3 amigos any more, ball rebounds out like pinball.

The ball spent about 75% of time in Dogs front half last match.
Yep for sure. Defensive forward and decoy spare me.
Have to be all things, that’s the aspiration - goal kicker, creator, tackler playmaker, chaser. All of them…!

I have A Krakouer, M Merenda, K Pettifer, and Chris Naish and Nock Daffy miles ahead of him. We need game breaking class not plodders

Should go back to the backline and be used on Kosi
Gave him the *smile* last time he played on him Making Kosi very frustrated
