Pretty dissapointing watching Conca struggle while Gaff was ripping it up. I know we had no chance at Gaff but it's still only 3 picks between them. Yet to be convinced by Conca, does a few nice things here and there but nothing special.

How quickly we turn.
Conca is the least of our worries. A quiet game, sure, but he has already shown plenty this year.

Astute being astute I thought you would have noticed this ? He is producing some absolute howlers that are having a material effect on the games. I am sure he will get better with age but he is yet to display anything that resembles his high price tag.

Conca is 19 and in his second year, he's played some terrific games and is an automatic selection fitness pending. Sometimes I really wonder what people expect from a second year player, Conca has done everything asked of him and more.

He is #1 in clangers at the Tiges this year, ahead of the esteemed Tuck and Jackson in 2nd and 3rd spots. I think the claim that he is butchering a bit is justified however he is just 19 and learning the caper. It does take time to build the experience and confidence and I'd be reserving my judgement for a couple more years yet.

The big difference is Conca can kick whereas the other two simply slap the ball on the boot and hope for the best. Reece has made some poor choices when it comes to decision-making but he's technically sound when it comes to disposal. Clangers which involve kicking into the man on the mark, handball intercepts and kicking to 2 on 1 situations are things that will naturally improve over time.

I've said it before, but the constant comparisons with Heppell, now Gaff are irritating in the extreme. Its relentless. Some people fluctuate each week, Conca gets 15 possies Heppell gets 20 one week people start bleating 'Jackson stuffed up' etc, Conca has a good game another week and Heppell is a bit worse, people snigger and say 'suck it Ess we got the best boy'. Its neurotic, reactive and pointless. I think we've got a good player with some class and thats all I'm worried about.
The occasional comment is one thing, but relentless obsessing is another altogether. geez, give it a rest.

No doubt he had a down game but fair dinkum give the kid a break!

I agree. Has a bit of the Tambling v Buddy and Fiora v Pavs about it.
Reece is doing well for a 2nd year player. Has played against some very good teams who exert an enormous amount of pressure, but real and implied, on the ball carrier...I would think WCE, Collingwood and Geelong are the best clubs at this. Natural that a second year player wouldn't be scything through the packs hitting teammates lace out like Chris Judd.

around at half pace and never got out of first gear.
I'd like to see Conca's stats this year versus someone that is supposed to have mediorce skills in Grigg. I bet Grigg has had a lot less clangers and turnovers.
