Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I posted on the game day thread that after watching it again on replay I would be very surprised if he get suspended. He actually made a big attempt to be very low to the contest by going to his knees and imo the contact was more to his shoulder than head. He was back on 2 minutes later.

Should have been a free but that's all.

Haven't watched the bump incident since the game - is he in any strife? The Geelong player at least came back on and played the game out.

nothing in it he's inner arm/chest and not his shoulder hit the cats player (christensen was it) no case to answer

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Conca frustrated me more than anyone yesterday but that was only because I know that it was out of character to turn it over as much as he did, but some of the 'dud' labels are just amazing. Why weren't these people claiming he was a dud after last weeks game?

Exactly my sentiments. I was gutted with his turnovers yesterday for two reasons: 1, because it hurt us so much at critical times of the match and 2, because he's much better than that. Well said T-Shirt...

Not amazing at all tommy boy. Players should get 15 effective possessions on debut, be averaging 25 after 15 games, be in the elite class by 30 games, and never have an off day. Anything less is a complete dud.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

From the AFL

Contact between Richmond's Reece Conca and the Geelong Cats' Allen Christensen from the fourth quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. Christensen has the ball when he is tackled by Richmond player Brandon Ellis. As Christensen goes to ground, the tackle is released and the ball spills free. Christensen attempts to regain possession of the ball and he is met high by Conca, who is coming in to contest the ball. It was the view of the panel that Conca was attempting to win possession and he had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.

Nothing more to see here. :)

Excellent.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Common sense from the MRP.

Wow. Never thought I'd see the day.

Logical decision. On the back of last week's decision with Ivan, perhaps the MRP are finally taking a more realistic approach to these assessments.

Wow logic. :clap

It's exactly right imo.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Great to see Conca will be available to play against the Weagles

Really?! I actually think it is no change. I for one didn't think we had anything to worry about with either incident.

Interesting to see that Stevie J was charged twice and has been rubbed out for 1 week.

Yeah, I was sure he would get weeks. I would have thought he would got two down to one.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Does anyone really think Lindsay Thomas did anything wrong? I dont understand how he got 3 weeks.

I don't.

The AFL is setting a ridiculous and very dangerous precedent for the future of the sport. Suspending players who cause injury? :spin

Aussie Rules involves physical contact and as a result of that people get hurt. Unfortunately it's part of the game.

I worry where this all ends..
