Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Good game from Reece tonight. A natural footballer who I think will be a very good player in years to come.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

good to see the number 30 been worn by a worthy
junior that will be a leader at this club..in the future

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Good to see him freed up a bit. Being able to create and link up instead of a negating role allows us to see what he's got
and will do a lot for his confidence.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I'll get in on this Squirrel love fest too.

Great game, will be absolute beauty in a couple years.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Good to see him get some touches away from defence.

Good poise and disposal. Took some good marks too.

Will be a player.

took a hit...like this kid.

A couple of hits actually. Both cheap. Both by their 2 biggest players.

Reece showed a bit of what he's capable of tonight, released into a more attacking role. I feel sure the build up in his play, will allow him to be unleashed into the midfield over the next few rounds, in games we would have pencilled in for a win. We'll probably get to see him more involved with clearances as well. His composure and movement with the ball, and his ability to see the play unfold and run and link is exactly the reason we drafted him. Some of the ball movement involving Conca, chimp, Dusty and lids was dazzling. Ran some great patterns, at pace, with ball handling skill!

Reece will be a GEM.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Kid is a pure footballer. Has all the smarts to be a 200 gamer.

And to add to the silk he is a tough as nails.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Very happy we got him at pick 6, there was big speculation about our choice but I think it has now been justified. Looks like a class player, has great composure takes players on and uses it well! Very pleased :)

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Thought he played really well again tonight. He is unbelievably composed for a first year player. Makes really good decisions and executes well.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Yep. He has great composure as you mention, always picks the right options. Good to see him getting some praise from the commentators. Since he's moved to the midfield he's picked up 23 and 22 touches.

Martin, Cotch and co in the at bounce, Lids and Conca on the wings as the outside players. Compliment each other well. Hopefully this is what we're working towards.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

proper player. he just glides across the turf collecting possessions and makes the right decisions. the only criticism I have is with the penetration of his long kicks. his short kicking is precise, but his long kicks can be floaters. needs to work on it.

Agree. Looks a beauty, but his long kicks can be a bit hit and miss.

He doesn't look very agile either, considering his size. Has a bit of a turning circle on him. Hopefully that'll improve as his body matures. But in terms of first year players, he's one of the best I've seen play for the Tigers.

wouldn't worry about that - he's just getting used to the pace of the game. what I've noticed is he has a great body feint and change of direction - fakes one way, goes the other. hard to teach, all instinct. will get him out of many tight situations.
