Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

great piece of play kicking to the left of screen where conca marks on a back flank, chips short to TV (I think), runs hard to receive a handball and spears a 40m pass to Miller, who turns and kicks to Jack who takes a good mark. At the start of this move conca waves on his teamate to run past him for a handball, but it didn't come. His instincts are to run hard to receive, link up and get others into the play. The perfect link man and IMO the perfect type of midfielder we needed to recruit.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

The test will be when he starts to get real AFL attention from other clubs.
That usually sorts many players out. (see Rene Kink/ Phil Carmen on Vin Cattagio)

This is true but Lids Grigg Martin Cotchin possibly Foley are taking up the opposition planning. Guys like Newman Conca and Houli, jackson Nahas even Edwards can get free

I reckon Conca would thrive on a hard tag.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Won't have to worry about a tag.
1st of all: The game is at a stage when you cant put a hard tag because of the rotations etc.. Its only really at stoppages you can do anythign like that
2nd of all: Cotchin and martin or Deldio will cop a tag if one did happen

Conca has a great kick, calm under pressure, evasive= Just the polish we need around the congestion

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

will be.............................IS a very good footballer.

Like him alot, plenty of class and time.
He gets caught now and then, but don't they all?

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Once he has the strength to break tackles look out - he is a ripper.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Sooooo much poise! This guy is a keeper already and has only played 6 games!!

Will be a slower developer than the likes of Martin, but that's not a bad thing. He will be clicking just nicely when we are gunning for finals.

Yeah, and a little more awareness would help too.

Will be a good player though.

Yeah very good first half but got caught a couple of times in the second when he really shouldn't have.

He did, but I expect some things like that to improve with experience...smart classy player

I don't think anyone is saying he is the finished product.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Another good game, needs better awareness but he'll get better the more experience he gets.
I remember Foley getting caught a fair bit in his first year and he turned out alright.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I reckon both times that he was pinged for holding were pretty tough especially the 2nd one. At least he has a good tackle on him, the one on Rich in the 2nd near the boundary was a perfect tackle.

He has made a decent impact in really his only 2nd game playing through the midfield.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Another good game from the youngster. Gets caught a bit, but awareness will come with experience.

Is a great kick (this is a nice little trend we seem to have), has more time than most youngsters when he has the ball, and I love how he wears his shorts. Reminds me of Knighter!
