Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Expect more of a midfield role for Conca tonight. This was mentioned by Dimma in his review of tonights game with Richo on the RFC website.

Yeah saw that. Tough challenge against the Pies but really looking forward to seeing what he can do when released.

Good to see him getting free'd up.
Even though Reece is more than capable of going in to get his own ball he is the outside runner we need and one of the major reasons why we drafted him.

Best game for the club clearly, was pushed up into the midfield in the 3rd and had 10 plus possies in the quarter.

Agree on those counts, finished with a career high 23 touches

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Its a worry that a first year player shows more composure then our experienced players. Definitely seems like a very good pickup.

If only other players could show his awareness.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

4 games into his career I know, but gee, looks like we made a good move grabbing this kid at pick 6.

Bet the GC would like him right now.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

great composure and smarts. knows how to delay the handpass to drag a player away before releasing. will be a great link man in the middle for years to come. has the brains.

yeah smart player.

I just want to see what he is like as a clearance player before I really start pumping him up. He certainly has most of the other attributes in place would be nice to see what he is like in the centre some time soon.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Great game. Good skills and prepared to run after he kicks the ball.

Well done Reece!

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Was mentioned on the radio after the game that Reece would be moved more into the midfield in a couple of weeks. glad he was playing well enough not to be subbed this week. Personally I'd rather use Nahas as the sub to use his pace late in the game when others are starting to tire.

Good call. I'd much rather the sub position be utilised on a speedster who can break open the game than someone like Tuck.
The Swans use of Gary Rohan in the role against the Weagles last week broke the game wide open as he used his pace late in the game.
Someone like Nahas could do the same for short spurts.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I think he's shown a lot coming through our last 4 games for just a first year player....

It's a shame that we have a plethora of these young, similar size guys who are great off half back, and also in the midfield, but really only Jack Reiwoldt up forward and nothing special at all up back.... We HAVEEEEEE to work on those area's....

Still seeing a young kid come in and show great signs is nothing but positive...

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Silk. His balance and poise and smarts are elite. As is his quickness. One of our better kicks.

Moved into his natural position and showed everyone the talent he has.

Strange game for mine, we got smashed, only played one good quarter, but what a quarter. What, to a man we lacked around 70 games experience to Collingwood and it showed in the end.

Guys like Conca are exactly what we need. Potential A grader.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Very happy he got freed up out of backline. I saw Heppell running around tearing it up but I did see Conca's qualities in round 1. He was able to fully display them tonight. Good game.
