Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

a criticism I have is he plays too safe. needs to take the game on a bit more

Question mark on pace. But was ok again today in tight. Seven clearances and five tackles. Needs to attack the game by foot more.

No doubt he will play a big role in the midfield for years to come. But in the zones and presses, it always appears that he causes the overlap by being in the wrong spot.
Something you only see at the ground.

Whilst he is not quick, I don't think that his lack of pace will kill him in the role that he will play (sure it would be nice but you can't have everything).
People overlook it because of his size but he is actually a very good inside player and will only get better in this area when he body gets bigger.

Regarding his positioning at times, I see your point but that's something that can/should be fixed over time.

The TV must've been kind Streaker. I hate the way he runs off his man to chase a bloke who's already covered. He reminds me of an Auskick kid who just runs after the ball all the time hoping to get a kick.

Noticed that too, happened in the 2nd quarter. Dumb decision that cost us a goal. Thought he made a few dumb decisions tlike that. Have been a big fan and he will be better in 2 years time but jeez he can be frustrating sometimes.

Just like any 2nd year apprentice is frustrating at times.

Agree with this.
I thought he was okay today, definately not our worst. I do however think he has a bright future as a 4-5th mid if he can get his fitness up.

We do that as a team, we are clearly planning if we pressure the ball carrier the zone will cover the holes behind

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I cant believe the comments about Conca. He is tracking just nicely for a 2nd year player.

No one seems to remember that beautiful tackle as the North player was coming straight at him. Conca didnt flinch but laid the tackle which resulted in the goal to Nahas.

yep great tackle didn't sherk it a bit and as you say ended in a goal

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Will be a very good player. He, Ellis and Morris have all shown something to get excited about for the future.

Need a few more to lighten the load on the A graders.

I think at times though we failed to have the required support and players still went at the ball coarrier and created the overlap. Surely they should be forcing a longer kick to a contest rather than getting caught in no-mans land. They overplayed it a few times I thought.

I agree, but I don't think Conca particularly stands out in this regard. It's a team problem.

Yeh, definitely needs to be looked at, Phantom mentioned earlier we often get sucked up the ground and create a crowded forward line and open their right up. Hope they do a bit of work on this. Our defenders need to be aware of how far up the ground they are getting taken at times, although i'm sure part of it is our mids getting exposed defensively also.

Harper and Atley made him Conca look a big step down in athletic ability and football ability.

Harper burned him in the 2nd term. Got some ability that kid!
Still I'm more than happy with how Reece is going because he can play.
Just needs to keep building the tank and the muscle.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

gotta work on his kicking. got the wayne campbells about him where he's all cramped up and looks to do those little chip kicks too often. when he goes the long kick he gets under them too much or they come off his shins.
