Haven't given up on him yet. Tries hard but needs more composure and polish. 2013 will be make or break for him.

You talk like he's going to struggle to keep his spot on the list. Funny.

He will be here for 10 years. Nothing surer.

Another 21 touches, few clearances. Not sure what people want from kid. Week by week more negative comments.

Only worry I see with him is he can rush his kicking but I see that improving with experience.

Great to see him in the middle. He'll get better as time moves on.

Just an average footballer.

Really? I think he's having more and more impact at key moments of the game. Looks like a perfect 4th midfielder to me right now

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Has stepped into the midfield role earlier than the club were probably planning and done really well. Improving weekly and looks like he'll be a solid player.

As a second year player, that comment is a little premature.

I think 18 months is suitable to make an assessment at this pointi n time. Not premature at all. I see him as an average footballer at best who struggles most of the time with his awareness and trying to make the right decision. Kicking at times is poor as well.

Yes really I wasn't joking. I agree he impacts some key moments of the play especially when the flow is in our favour but he lacks defensive awareness. Maybe this will come in time.

Conca doesn't have anything special that stands out but to his benefit is still raw and has time to develop, I hope.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

he's become Richmondised somewhat. He isn't linking up in an attacking fashion like when he first came to the club. Needs to bring the ball forward mor ebut tends to stop and go sideways or backwards.

A few panicked kicks forward today whereas early last year he would have propped and come back inside. He's one of us now.

I thought he was very good today. Gave him 2 votes.

The TV must've been kind Streaker. I hate the way he runs off his man to chase a bloke who's already covered. He reminds me of an Auskick kid who just runs after the ball all the time hoping to get a kick.

flower sniffing brightsider.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

For everything good he does, he makes a critical error at crucial times. One of those players whose errors seem to be costly, resulting in either an opposition goal or a non-goal to Richmond when one was on the cards...

Not sure what it is with him but he certainly lacks that something...momentum killer who takes the safe option at the wrong times...have my severe doubts on him, particularly at pick #6. Hope he proves me wrong ASAP. God knows we need him to come good...

He is going ok but that is a valid criticism. Noticed that today as well. Just needs to improve his decision making.

Agree with you, Barnzy.

You're a very harsh critic, Conca is tracking very nicely for a teenager and is a least 2-3 years off reaching his peak. The mere fact that he's holding his own in the midfield indicates a very bright future.

And as far as the kicking goes, they said the same thing about Watson, Swan, Mitchell, Priddis, Swallow etc. Reece may not be the most penetrating kick but he's reliable on both sides of the body. Sure, there will be some decision-making errors from time to time, that is just part and parcel of learning to become an AFL footballer.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Someone said next year make or break for him??? Good god....
He is tracking very nicely, far from the finished article but doing very well never the less.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Harper and Atley made him Conca look a big step down in athletic ability and football ability.

Athletic...sure.
Football....no.

Quite staggered at the criticism Conca cops on here to be honest, he is a very fine young player.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Question mark on pace. But was ok again today in tight. Seven clearances and five tackles. Needs to attack the game by foot more.

No doubt he will play a big role in the midfield for years to come. But in the zones and presses, it always appears that he causes the overlap by being in the wrong spot.
Something you only see at the ground.
