That brings me back to my point. This whole thing is media driven. He did, but the media kept playing and playing the footage. This booing stuff was something only Hawthorn people were doing. The media pointed it out, cue moral outrage, and then it started happening at all games. The media want this to snowball because it gives them something to do. And now the AFL and Goodes himself are playing into it and it is going to become his legacy.

I have been finding it really strange that even the Swans, and AFL, executive are playing these issues through the media as well. Sure, McQuire et al are going to get their heads on anything as often as they can, but IMO it is a situation that should be de-escalated first.

Thinking of that Reclaim Australia mob, now that the media has gone all quiet on them, for those of us not out to find information about them directly, they have just seemed to vanish overnight. For AG to be able to be heard, amongst the mass of 'noise', wouldn't it be better if that noise got removed?

I loathe what's happening to goodes and not all us fans are booing and I even bought a goodes badge .... Man the guy was so thank ful as the hate has being overwhelming fir the club ... On a good note he said there now getting more and more people from all clubs phoning and showing support this week

Me .. Personally .. I'm guttered to realise just how vile and racist the ugly Aussie really is ..
And this is pure racism .. That indisputable ... Otherwise we would be booing every second player who whinges stages plays dirty or is perceived to be a flog or wanker and no one in the history of afl has been hated with such endless passion as goodes.. ... I wonder how many boomers have the courage to really look deep within themselves to find that maybe they do have an element of racism in their heart ...

Not sure if Frances is aware of the fact Goodes deliberately chose to get in the faces of the supporters. You can't realistically expect to dish it out without copping it back. That would be extremely naive. Doesn't make it right just the same. Leach can judge the others morally but that is their private lives. Adam has made his career as a footballer a political stage....parden the pun.

I find Jason Mifsud's, and thus the AFL's, comments disturbing too. I'd hate to see all Indigenous players do a war dance to the opposition. It would be a massive mistake. I hate the segregation. I look at everyone out there as footballers, not as racial groups. Even if they did it deliberately it wouldn't be as an act of aggression towards the crowd done in anger as Adam did. Adam himself said he didn't do it to the opposition because it had an Indigenous player in it. (not sure of exact wording)

Jason also said he's confused by the incredibly respectful treatment showed for Phil Walsh compared to what Goodes cops. There is a massive difference in those situations.

I do hope he plays out the season and the Geelong crowd shows leadership in their response to Goodes. It would be a horrible end to his career if we remember him being booed out by the west coast fans.

I felt for Jobe too last year and hated the fact that he was booed by tiger fans. Thankfully that seems to have abated.

There is no centre where people with a bit of common decency can see that booing Goodes is bullying and has gone past the he is a "stager or sniper". It is a mob no different from the other mobs and deep down it is driven by racism.

Also to suddenly also call all those booing as racists its offending more people and the booing I see continuing to voice their disapproval. Politics being brought to the game.

Afl getting involved as a player is being hurt. But the double standards of the afl I get annoyed about. They didn't care that a 13 yo was locked up as a criminal for an hr without a guardian. She was bullied by all concerned. Total stupidity by those involved and to state they didn't know she was 13 is laughable and protective of their poor actions. Many took offence and Goodes was unrepentant. Her actions were wrong. but ,the way she was dealt with, was worse imo. Many didn't like Goodes for that.

Goodes should have left his political views in the locker room. He chose to bring them constantly to the field.

He said himself it was a deliberately pre-planned action. He said it was done in anger as an act of war. It wasn't a spur of the moment thing and it wasn't a traditional war cry as some claim. It was an individual act of bullying.

Imagine a male commentator making a statement such as this!

A woman is more likely to be able to make statements such as yours. Even so, there are those who would say to you, 'it's ok for you, you are employed/middle class/privileged/never been passed over because of your gender...'.

Perhaps the world used to be simpler one day.
