PRE Phantom Draft 2013

Pick 24 - Michael Apeness

Height: 199cm, Weight: 101kg, DOB: 28/01/1995
Recruited from: Eastern Ranges

With Buddy gone and Hale getting another year older, its an ideal time to get another key forward / ruckmen into the system to compliment Roughead and McEvoy. Initially Apeness will apply his trade at Box Hill but at 101kg there is no reason why he couldnt mix it with the big boys of the AFL.

He is a strong bodied ruckman with some excellent ability to go up forward as a big marking target when given the opportunity. I see him in a similar mould to Tippett. He is a physical type player (thanks to his rugby background) with a real presence to him at his size. Up forward is where he is most dangerous. He has a big body and loves the contested 1 v 1 and will prove a handful for any defender matching up on him.
Damn, I was hoping he went under the radar!

I was initially going to wait until my next pick to get him but wasnt confident he would still be on the board.

Correct, I was going to take him at pick 30!

Just a suggestion, but can we stick to the topic rather than the lame attempts at humor.

Yes, a quick phantom draft is a good phantom draft.

Come on Gus it is not like the next picker is making jokes. Cheer up mate!

Pick 25 Brisbane Lions

Luke Reynolds 188cm 86kgs

This silky half forward has a pace to burn and is a beautiful kick of the pill, loves to take the game on and will add depth to the midfield rotations.
Kicks goals from outside 50 no problems and importantly has played against men so is seen as someone who could make an impact in 2014

Essendon 26 - Jarman Impey

Essendon table ecstatic to land this electric playmaker at 26. Impey is the most exciting small forward prospect in the draft pool and will more than adequately fill the gaping hole left by the departure of Leroy Jetta ( ;D). Impey is quick, creative, clean, dual sided, very athletic and tough to boot. What makes him so exciting though is his versatility; Impey played through the backline in 2013 and played an Andrew Walker type role for Vic Country, providing plenty of run and carry and cutting apart opposition zones with his precise foot skills. Whether he can eventually transfer to becoming a full time midfielder is yet to be seen, but the skill set is certainly there.

Jarman!

With Pick 27 Gold Coast Select Dayle Garlett

Club: Swan Districts
D.O.B.: 9.1.1994
Height: 180cm
Weight: 78kg

Pick 28 Brisbane Lions

James Tsitas

180cm
77 kg

Very excited to add Jimmy The Greek, tough as nails, loves to tackle has a good turn of pace and has very good ball use although lacks a little penetration on his kicking.
Will be loved by anyone who loves the Lions and probably hated by everyone else which is just how Jimmy likes it.
