PRE Phantom Draft 2013

Pick 38 - Patrick Cripps

Height: 188cm, Weight: 88kg, DOB: 18/03/1995

With Sewell and Mitchell getting closer to the end of their careers it is fitting that we at Hawthorn look at filing that need with another inside midfielder. He is an exceptional inside midfielder with huge upside.

Carlton Pick 39 - Zach Merrett

Smart poised midfielder/forward with a touch of class.
Elite kick & above average endurance.
Has the X-Factor to help propel a locked & loaded Carlton side into the top four.

Pick 34 Brisbane Lions

Darcy Cameron 203cm 98kgs

Another Darcy to the Lions, this one been a very talented ruckman in the Dean Cox mould.
A very effective tap ruckman that is not out of place in the forward line where his good marking and excellent kicking make him a perfect partner for Luenberger
Some might think this is a little early but without a pick till the 60's its now or never and the Lions are happy to get Darcy with this pick and certainly fills a desperate need

Good pickup but a little early imo but as you said if you dont have another selection until 60's and you want that player you just have to go with it - well done

Im hoping Darcy is still there at #68 in the real deal so the mighty tiges can snaffle him up with our 3rd selection, Would be ready in 3-4 years time just as Maric is finishing off

I was 50-50 between Cripps and Miller but thought the Dockers had sufficient hard ball players. In fact their mids look pretty good all round.

Swans write-ups.

Pick #32 - Eli Templeton 182cm/75kg - Midfielder

Ahhh good old pick 32. ;D Got one of my favourites of the draft and one I feel is very underrated. I'd have no complaints taking him at 12 in the real thing. Still skinny though has put on 8kg this year. Smart, skilful and a big tank. Once he puts on the weight required to be an AFL player this kid will go down as one of the players of the draft. Whilst he is currently quite skinny and could play some games as an outside mid/HBF, IMO he will transition into a guy who can play in the square. Really good hands in close. Long term replacement for Jarrad McVeight at the Swans.

Pick #35 - Daniel McStay 194cm/88kg - KPD/KPF

McStay is a real Sydney type KPD. Super athletic, and whilst he doesn't have a lot of meat on his bones at the moment I think he will fill out enough to hold down a KPD role. He's a very good user of the footy and from what I've heard a really coachable kid. McStay also has the versatility to play as a KPF though we won't use him that way at the Swans. If all else fails we can play him off a wing, with his athleticism he'd be a damaging player in that role.

I still have one guy I rate as a 1st rounder. If any of you take him before 44 you shall be hurt. ;D

:hihi I gues your luck I dont have a selection by then Tigs :hihi
I Like him also

You very nearly missed out on Eli, I had sent
Tigers of Old my selections #29 which went
1.Bourke
2.Templeton
3.Impey

Pick 40 - Melbourne

Dees choose:

Dwayne Wilson (Sturt) - mid/ small fwd

Live wire with tremendous pace and skill. Can break the lines in the midfield but can also go fwd and kick miraculous goals.

If this kid slides to below 30 in the draft, any team that takes him from that point on could easily get the steal of the draft. I personally rate him well ahead of a similar player from WA called Dayle Garlett.

For anyone interested, go to the site we cannot name and have a look at this kids highlight clip. He is a beautifully balanced runner with explosive off the mark pace, and has a magnificently penetrating kick. He is almost the pure antithesis of Matt Pridis.

The knock on him is a poor work ethic and he apparently has no inside game at all. some clubs apparently don't want to go near him because of the work ethic issue. I'd be absolutely ecstatic (and amazed) if we could get him with our second pick. Chocco Williams could knock him into shape.

Well we did give up either Impey or Wilson for Shaun Hampson this year - I will be watching with interest where these 2 boys end up on draft day and if its after #32
I WILL BE EXTREMELY P1553D 0ffffffff

I had to review the first 39 picks three times over to be comfortable that nobody had picked him up earlier. Can't believe it. His highlights blew me away.

Roosy will get him worki g hard at the Dees ;D

To be honest Bris, I couldn't imagine a worse player/club fit than Wilson/Melbourne if reports on the work ethic issue are true.
Would have thought he'd fit in well. ;D
