PRE Phantom Draft 2013

Pick 56 - Shane Nelson

Height: 176cm, Weight: 76kg, DOB: 11/05/1993

Prolific ball winner in the WAFL who has all the necessary attributes to be an AFL footballer.

He must have run over someones cat as that is the only explanation I have as to why he isnt already on an AFL list.

Sorry all dinner and Halloween has caught me on the hop. Will make pick about 8. Again apologies. It's just a game Everton, nothing at stake, just a few blokes pretending to pretend to be pretenders.
The only reality in the whole phantom draft is Halloween, beautiful stuff ToOld

Geez Billy, thought it was obvious I was only joking! As for calling me Everton! ;)

Pick 57 Melbourne

Dees think we have run out of junior talent so are heading to the state league.

Dees choose:

Mitch Thorp

Top 10 KPFs don't grow on trees and we think Thorp has gone back to Tassie, has worked on his attitude and is mentally ready for another opportunity at the top level. If this works, it will be a huge win for the Dees given that we learnt that Dawes is a dud and w can't believe what we gave up for him.

The aim for freo this year has been tall horses for courses. We would have loved to have taken McCarthy and failing that were very interested in Conlon. However we are stoked that Jesus McBean has not played a game for Richmond because this gentlemen is built the same and can play in a similar manner. With Pick 58 Fremantle take:

Alex Pearce

Club: Devonport
D.O.B: 9.6.1995
Height: 199cm
Weight: 87kg

A tall key forward with amazing endurance which will serve him well on our big Subi ground. Ran a 15.5 beep test and a 10:06 3km time trial. This sparked our interest and then the 2minute clip on the website which shall not be named on the ground Alex was superb for a player so tall. With Marsh taken earlier and Gumby traded for we at Fremantle believe we can offer Alex sufficient time to develop in the WAFL

Nice choice Knighta. From a very good sporting family is Alex.

shocked at how late he is going in a lot of phantom drafts. Not a superstar but a tall talent that will need time endurance is excellent which will serve him well to get to a lot of contests. I expect teams like Hawthorn, Sydney and maybe even us to take a punt as we all have good to excellent KPF players in the firsts.

Pick 60 - Western Bulldogs

Jared Jansen - East Fremantle

188cm 91kg.

Bulldogs get a good sized and ready to go midfielder in Jansen who can also play in defence. Great tackling and marking skills and playing style is likened to Jobe Watson.

Nice pick up, I think Thorp will surprise many.

And Melbourne the perfect club - he can use his new found leadership skills from his coaching there.

Tend to agree, I think Melbourne, St Kilda, Doggies or Brisbane would be perfect for Thorp. I wouldn't mind him at Richmond to be honest, he'd be pretty solid insurance for AEdwards.

Capt/coach at St Kilda?

I also think Thorp will surprise. He may not turn out to be the gun KPP that his original draft position warranted, but I expect him to be a solid workhorse type KPP in his second AFL stint (assuming it happens)

I could have sworn I saw Luke Reynolds at 54! ;D

Anyway, nice pick-up, he was my next selection.

Yep you did!! I was stoked to see him still on the board. Not so stoked to see him gone at 25. ;D

Long day.
