Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Didn't think his kicking was to bad to awkward hit all hs targets on the highlights clip blocks for his team mates has great hands.

He misses kicks in real life, he isn't a bad kick, but he's not great either.

There's a touch of Cogs about Wines, very similar players right down to the awkward kicking action.

Reckon Wines has a bigger upside then Cogs. I would say at the worst Ollie Wines is Jordan Lewis.

I am a bit suss on Macrae, but I was suss on Daisy Thomas ::)

Same. I actually think the two are very much alike.

Can anyone compare the Combine data of the two?

Not so sure about that Leysy. Think you are selling Wines way short.

Maybe, think 9 is getting closer to his correct position though.

His kicking isn't natural or fluent enough for leysy to like him any higher.

Respect that your a fan scoop, & still think he can be solid enough.

Would probably be stronger in leysy view but haven't had the time to get right into this years draft crop.

Also wouldn't be certain we'd take Wines (or many) over Vlastuin either.

We have a different ranking system that puts different priorities on players, so the guys we really like are often rated far higher by us than at other clubs.

That's actually a big complimet Scoop, pre-injury Cogs was one of the best inside mids in the game - 15 Brownlow votes, 40 possession games, B&F winner. If it wasn't for the dreaded OP and then knee injury, he would have been a club legend.

The Macrae and Daisy comparison is an interesting one, although I'd say Daisy is a better mark and probably a better kick. On the other hand, Macrae seems to rack up more possessions and already has an impressive engine. There's nothing really stopping him from emulating a player like Gaff and playing midfield very early on in the piece.

Yep spot on Leysy.

2012 AFL Draft: Pick Me - Ollie Wines Need a tough, fearless midfielder capable of busting packs open? Check out our exclusive vision and analysis of one of the best prospects in the AFL draft

Gee, Ollie even looks like a junior Dustin Martin.

I haven't seen his long-range kicking; hope it's as good.

Seems to be better 'life-focused' than Dustin too.

If he can kick, that's the type of midfielder we want.

Spend a lot more time on the turf in that clip than Dusty would, but its a big benchmark. I'd rather Wines than Vlastuin, but theres a few id prefer over Wines. In less than 30 hours, all these hypotheticals will be a bunch of hypotheticals in AFL jumpers.

ON top of that, consistently doing big numbers is always a big plus for me. At worst you will get a solid 10 year inside citizen.
