Pick 72: Ryan Garthwaite

Nah, kicks more like the krakouer brothers. He doesn't guide / drop the ball down to his boot, he places it low to begin with and holds it there till it's kicked. In effect there is no or very minimal ball drop. It's a fairly safe kicking action

Safe but looks slow - in that it takes more time so may b tackled and pinged more often than a normal kinda kick..

Garth's kicking style is awkward but effective. Has anyone seen him kick on his left? It would be interesting to see what that looks like.

For those of a certain age - Kicks like Rod 'Curley' Austin

Was watching a kid who plays Ovens & Murray kick last night and at first I thought geez that actions worse then Garthwaites , however I reckon he kicked at 90% for goal from all angles.

I think Garthwaite has said Fev helped him with his kicking

Major liability. A taller.version of Ellis.

This guy’s composure is a worry. Not sure he has tools..
Not in same ball park as Ellis. Corey maybe

He's played like 5 games, relax

5 games, will be very lucky to get to 50.
2 weeks in a row now, the opposition are using him as a pathway to scoring.
Gunston dragged him to goal square and out marked him. Last night whoever he went on destroyed him, firstly Bagley then Langford

Begley? Lol, he was hopeless. Only managed 1 mark and was soundly beaten on the night. Langford is a talented player but plays alot midfield. You sure Garthwaite played much on him?

We got found out against the doggies when he didn’t play...

I think he’s doing a great job for a kid play KPB... long term Astbury replacement.

Ran 16.8km for the game. Next closest was Baker at 15.2km.

That is an amazing stat for a third year kpd

Some of the criticism is way too harsh and as for writing him off already after game 6 .... jeez
He’s performing a defensive role well in that his absolute priority is to spoil including a few times when he might have had a chance to mark the ball.
But that can come in time - give him a chance to develop
BTW - those km numbers are amazing

Hasn't quite got the pace or mobility. But it looks to me like he's learning to play the earlier Grub type defensive role of negative, safety first, spoiler n contest killer. He's going o.k. for only a handful of games experience. Grub seems to have taken to Trossman's role with aplomb, he's expanded his game brilliantly since Tross went down.

Um .....no

He has been excellent for a 4-5 game 20 year old.
