Pick 72: Ryan Garthwaite

This guy is an improver. His abiding weakened is in front. Holding front position. He’s young and not heavy. Fair enough. He got a bit lost today when in front. Yet again. So he set for side position and won consistently. He zoned well - sweeping. His ball use is usually quick and forward but not aggressive. All good there.

Looked pretty good to me.

Controlled the air today at VFL. Rarely got beaten.

A leader as well. Took control of the defenders during the quarter breaks

All the best Garth!

Whenever he gets a chance he’ll be a favourite and hard to replace!

Ryan's possible inclusion can only mean that one of Rance, Astbury or Grimes might be in doubt.

At this stage Garth is probably a more competative and consistent option up forward than Chol. And played a lot of footy in the forward line as a junior!! Food for thought.
No doubt the club views him as a future AFL senior player. Apparently very pleased with his development

Won't play but will be very close in the coming weeks.

Was our best defender last week in the twos.

Was named on the bench for Sunday. Repaid the selectors' faith with a professional display today. Ranged and zoned. Defended from the side, usually. Very strong there. Overcooked the ball at times but used it down the line, probably as instructed.

I reckon it was his best game to date.

Encouraging. If Baltasound and Garth both come on this year we can focus on grabbing mids at the draft table.

Wasn't this his first game?
Love this kid. Should've been playing in the firsts from round 1.

Continues to take scalps in the magoos, like the fact he seems to play the way the senior team back half plays, I think he could slot straight in if needed.

Don’t think he has the athleticism to be a superstar defender, however like the way his tracking.

After yesterday Garth might be a bit closer to getting to getting a game down back, if not it might be worth trying him as a defensive forward.
He's got good pace and is a very good mark, i reckon he might surprise few and think he would have been handy in that role yesterday.

Ive seen him a couple of times, plays like McGovern.
Should've been in already.
