Interesting, that three goals is the record for goals on debut with the tigers and he shares it with two current players who also aren't playing forward in the AFL side, Short and Lloyd. FWIW it puts them equal 13th all time.tonemaster said:

Was disappointed with Garthwaite forward but they were asking him to lead up to the wings to mark. Wish they would have used him deeper to clunk marks in fwd 50
there was an article on Garthwaite at some point where it was pointed out he was originally a forward. I suspect given we had no key forwards apart from Jack in the AFL team they wanted to have a look at him. That of course is a role of the vfl team and is perfectly understandable given our number one priority with the vfl team is to develop AFL players. i would like to see Garthwaite allowed to continue developing as a defender in the VFL, rather than throwing a skinny 18yo around trying to plug holes.

I actually thought Moore did well as the lead up option. Suits his agility, can participate after the contest and can take a grab too. It's only his kicking that is holding him back but even that has improved from what I have seen previously

Won't complain at all if young Garth tears Tyrone a rather large new one. Not out of any sense of maliciousness towards Tyrone. Just out of appreciation of an up coming young Tiger taking a piece out of a senior player fighting for his career spot.

Real shame that someone who has proven time and time again that he is not up to it, ( Batchelor ) is played in front a player that may very well be the best player we drafted in 2016 ( garthwaite )
