Funny how quickly we have forgotten the lessons of 2017. A bad tall forward is worse than no tall forward at all. Just pick players that can compete, regardless of size. Miller does not compete and shouldn’t be picked.

Young went past him as a defender
I'm very strong on him not being a ruck , Pickett does a better job at centre bounces , way better leap
I don't think forward craft is his thing
I do rate him with ball in hand at ground level , he doesn't panic and can spot good options and his handballs do hit targets
I've seen him play well in the VFL this year , my fear is that might earn him another year on the list
I do think he'd make a good tall utility in a non aligned VFL club , time to turn the list spot over
If Bauer is right this week do you chuck him in , despite no games for a month ?

Gawn is tough to bash into. Balta tried. Soldo tried. Soldo bashed into him a lot and he ain't no midget. A bit laughable to think Ben Miller was going to physically hurt Gawn. Miller is more the prancing, non-contact Tyrone Vickery type.
Gawn is the elite ruck of the comp. Soldo was huge in the first half but Gawn is a machine. Amazing runner & player for his size.

He's got another year on the list for mine. Maybe two. He's improving. He has some AFL traits - some of the most important. Clean skills and decent decision making. He's not a wall flower - he's just not a Benny Gale in the making. He'll be something less if he keeps his trajectory. Whether the level where he lands has a place in our best 22 remains to be seen.

Key forward is another position we dont respect. If we had pick one we wouldn't take Walter. We seem obsessed with finding forwards from other clubs dregs or picks in the 60s.
I doubt we will see a better all round Ruck performance that we saw from Gawn in the second half. A real masterclass for any burgeoning ruck to watch and learn
Feel a bit for Ben .. a solid defender that has been moved around as as a stop gap forward ruck etc due to our obession for recruiting half back flankers insead of tall forwards
North are gunna be after a big back in 2024 when Ben McKay leaves and Griifin Logue is out with his ACL. We could look at trading Ben to North in return for one of their players but looking at their list it reminds of the Cold Chisel song “You got nothing I want”.
