Pick 53: Jack Graham

Excellent. He plays then.

He's just one of those types you trust to give it their all and fight all game.

I can't rate Jack high enough, to come in for his first game, play 63% game time for 13 disposals, 11 tackles and goal, and then then follow it up with 18, disposals, 7 tackles and another goal from 69 minutes game time, he's has to play for mine.
But happy to trust Balmey on his selection.

I rate this kid like a top 5 pick. AFL media will be awash with story's about how he slipped so far in the draft after his first bog

A potential captain I would think, has already captained SA under 16's & under 18's sides.

Has shown up Corey Ellis"s deficiencies for a first round pick in 2 games.

Graham could help minimise the damage of the Lennon and C Ellis first rounders.

Shai and Jack may be a fantastic draft lets just hope if they do become guns that we can keep em both.

Ive said this for a long time now, we need to bring in 5 (minimum) new kids every year regardless what picks theyre.
You have a better chance finding a parker or Graham type.
The kid is composed.

I don't like to draw parallels but I remember Selwoods first game and thinking how he just looked like he belongs.

No nerves, hard at the contest, tackled feverishly, composed with ball in hand, completely involved.

All these things are true for Grahams debut too.

Its a cracking start and theres a hell of a journey ahead but what a wonderful way to start his career.

So true.

Hope he holds his place for Friday weeks game.

Tough, composed and built for finals footy.

Going to need plenty of those against the Cats against their bigger contested on ball types!

Has there ever been a premiership player win the rising star award ??? ;D

Good question.

Load up on graham for next years rising star

I wonder about the new Richmond culture we are breeding.

How much good will it do for Graham to have played in two big wins.

Compare this to Deledio's start to his career.

Think about Joel Selwood.

Tyrone Vickery vs Tom Hawkins. Some nature and nurture here.

I don't just like what our younger players are bringing, I like what they're being exposed to.

And finals give us the chance to solidify it. Eat em Alive.

I agree.

Judd and Dusty were the same. If ever there's been a player have a better first season than Dusty's first year i'd like to know who he is, Selwood would be very very close.

Excellent point , you'd have to think it would have some positive effect lacing up boots before the game next to cotch, dusty , Jack and , Rance , as you rightly said lids and others never had that luxury in first year

I want Dimma to instruct Jack to just repeatedly tackle Selwood, all night at every opportunity.

He is a beast.

I don't think Selwood will be too ruffled by a kid in his third game. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves hey?

Not getting ahead of anything. Excitement and hunger by Jack will be beneficial for us.

He is a beast of a kid who has applied 18 tackles in two games.

His tackling is damaging, his set shots for goal have been great.

Yes his tank will improve in time.

It's quite the debut.

I hope he plays on Friday and has 15 tackles, 2 goals and sores up Selwood repeatedly. Who cares if Selwood is ruffled or not ?

I reckon Markov could the one to make way - thought he went alright on the weekend though. The only others that might make way would be George or Broad, but I think it would be a harsh call on George after he's played the whole year to then miss out and I reckon the same could be said for Nathan after a run of games - thought he might of made way for Houli.

The pressure will be immense in the final and the Cats have plenty of experience, I reckon Jack stays in based on his 2 previous games.

Selwood out - obviously Graham will have to play on Dangerfield. Lets see if the Jackinator can hold Dangerfield to less than 23 contested possessions.
