Pick 53: Jack Graham

Not sure if I put this on here somewhere or not, however saw Graham training last Saturday was doing running zig zag drills and kicking about 40 metres, looked a tad proppy when kicking long. His a big kid looks about 23, probally started shaving in kinda

HEARD many say jade gresham was only a u 18 star, which i disagreeded with, hes coming along beautifully, some players like graham i,m hoping, just step up the levels and play at similar standard to lower levels, andrew kelaway was another, has is tom stewart whom i,ve seen since he was a junior at sth barwon and emailed tigers that there is a ready made defender at sth barwon some 4 years ago.

Apparently playing 2nds this week according to a poster on Bigfooty.

Spoke to Graham at the members cocktail party.

The knock on Luke Parker was that he was an early developer that may not have the physical development left to transcend the levels.
Look how that turned out.
Jack is a beast inside player by looks. At very least, with an injury free run, his journey will be interesting..

who do we expect this kid to release and to where?

Caddy to CHF?

Hopefully can get half a dozen games into him and get him right for a big 2018 preseason.

Regardless of injury, absolutely the right pick. We still need another 3-4 mids.

Indeed.

Someone to the seconds easy. His kicking isn't great but one of those blomes who hates to lose a contest. Was pissed off to the max after going late in the draft with his lark medal hanging round his neck. I think he was a steal.

Would you say perhaps, in a similar mold to Daniel Jackson? From pictures I've seen, looks a similar physique.

Not there is enough A grade talent there but I reckon that's the best VFL side we've had in five years.

Reckon Jack play a half. Low expectations first up. Just looking for style and glimpses, won't have repeat efforts in him yet.

Agree

Hard to teach a guy to get the ball but this guy has it and attacks the contest. Stays healthy he will be a very good long term inside mid for us. Kicking is not such a problem in that he is kicking under pressure. Can get the ball and get it moving forward.

Na, we had a better team late last year. Lambert, Marcon, Moore, McBean (all state league guns), Butler, Castagna, Menadue, all regulars. We'd'a won the flag if only we'd made the finals. (Seriously.)

On Graham's kicking. It's not that it's bad. (It's not great.) It's often rushed (he's slow) or he just blazes. Both can improve. On Gyps' advice, I re-watched him giving the Vic Country reputations a lesson in getting the pill. Of his 15 kicks that day, five were marked by the opposition. Five were marked by teammates (one might have been dropped actually, but should have been marked), and five missed the target.

The lad has BWA, he's strong and he can run (just not quickly). It would help us a lot if he makes it.

Na, Jacko was a beast but actually an outside player. KMac is the new Jacko, but better. Graham is inside, more like Jab Watson, but smaller.

Jacko averaged over 9.3 contested possessions a game in his last 2 seasons, that would put him top 60 in the league this year. Two games in his last season he had 18 and 19. I think it's a bit of a furphy that he wasn;t inside. In fact I think his best games was when he did play more inside and give of the obvious quick disposal option then when he was tried outside.

Lose ball gets count as contested possessions, doesn't make a player inside.
