Pick 17, 20 & 25

Balmer has Brander going to us at 17!!!!!

Falling like a stone. Weird. Would be a huge steal at 17.

Amazing isn't it. I think it might be a case of a few kids raising up the rankings pushing Brander, and hopefully Naish down in the rankings. Brander would be a great option for us at 17.

No. As I said we have to use our direct next pick ie 17. You can't bundle any old picks to get the points value now.
As Gia further explained the leftover points then goes to a later pick valued at the leftover points ie pick 69 is worth 49 points

Thanks got it now!

Maybe

If Naish gets past our first pick, there’s every chance he is there after 25.

Brander, Balta, who ever and Naish. Dream forecast.

So here is my understanding. Once a bid comes, we need to use our next pick as a minimum. If we have too few points then they come off our next active pick, if we have too many then we gain an extra pick later in the draft. So below is my example of what happens at each pick from 11 down to 30.

Pick 11 - 1329 points at 80% = 1063 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and need to take 38 points off Pick 20 which then becomes Pick 21.
Pick 12 - 1268 points at 80% = 1014 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and get back Pick 73
Pick 13 - 1212 points at 80% = 970 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and get back Pick 69
Pick 14 - 1161 points at 80% = 929 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and get back Pick 65
Pick 15 - 1112 points at 80% = 890 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and get back Pick 61
Pick 16 - 1067 points at 80% = 854 points. Use Pick 17 (1025) and get back Pick 58
Pick 17 - Our Pick
Pick 18 - 985 points less 197 points = 788 points. Use Pick 20 (912) and get back Pick 62
Pick 19 - 948 points less 197 points = 751 points. Use Pick 20 (912) and get back Pick 59
Pick 20 - Our Pick
Pick 21 - 878 points less 197 points = 681 points. Use Pick 25 (756) and get back Pick 67
Pick 22 - 845 points less 197 points = 648 points. Use Pick 25 (756) and get back Pick 64
Pick 23 - 815 points less 197 points = 618 points. Use Pick 25 (756) and get back Pick 61
Pick 24 - 785 points less 197 points = 588 points. Use Pick 25 (756) and get back Pick 59
Pick 25 - Our Pick
Pick 26 - 729 points less 197 points = 532 points. Use Picks 53 and 55 (440) and carry a 92 point deficit on to our 2nd rounder 2018
Pick 27 - 703 points less 197 points = 506 points. Use Picks 53 and 55 (440) and carry a 66 point deficit on to our 2nd rounder 2018
Pick 28 - 677 points less 197 points = 480 points. Use Picks 53 and 55 (440) and carry a 40 point deficit on to our 2nd rounder 2018
Pick 29 - 653 points less 197 points = 456 points. Use Picks 53 and 55 (440) and carry a 16 point deficit on to our 2nd rounder 2018
Pick 30 - 629 points less 197 points = 432 points. Use Picks 53 and 55 (440) and gain Pick 74.

Just as a guide, if Naish is bid on at 26 and lets say we win the premiership again, we have Pick 36 (502) which less the 92 point deficit drops us to 42.

In order to leave the options shown above for Pick 26 onwards we need to have 5 active list spots on our main list. We currently have 3 so need to delist 2. If we only delist 1 or none, then expect we will only take Picks 17, 20 and 25 and Naish will be taken with 25 if he isn't bid on before that.

Mr Poshman, that is an epic effort :clap. :cupgold

If we win the premiership, wouldn’t we have pick 18?

We would but the deficit comes off the pick in the following year in the same round next year. So there is no chance of a deficit in the 1st round (unless he goes top 5 and we won't match that) so the deficit will come off our 2nd round pick.

Is it still September?? Everything's coming up Richmond if we pull that off.

It’s just amazing. I’d given you 1000-1 for that to happen. Now it’s 20’s and still coming in.

Ok thanks
I didn’t know that either
I suck at this

Hope Naish doesn't get bid on until after 25.

C.Ellis, Short, Markov and Menadue all fill similar roles and look like better prospects disposal and pace wise as well as defensively.

Not sure where Naish fits in. It'll be a romantic selection more than anything IMO.

Willo what is the scenario if someone bids at 16 and we have to use 17 less our 20% discount, (giving us excess points), does this come off our next pick 20 or at the back of draft???

Question

We have 8 draft picks, is that a reflection of places on our list as we have carried a good number of rookies but ran with a shorter list this year, correct me if I’m wrong but why do some teams have 4 picks and we have 8 ( granted after first 3 the other 5 are 50+)

I ask this as it’s been stated that you can’t use extra points and can only go into draft with available spaces on list?

Great opportunity to catch the others playing catch up this draft.

Go balls deep in talls and outside types (aka Naish) while everyone else is trying to rebalance their lists to replicate ours.

Other clubs will be desperate to draft in pressure forwards (both small and medium). Should be some real value picks for us this year.

I think a lot of clubs will be looking at our GF squad and deciding not to add talls or outside types so may pass on players that are "best available" to get the "right type" of player.

We had 40 on the main list this year (including Yarran).

We have 8 draft picks, but we won't take all of them to the draft. We can only take "live" picks to the draft which is the number of spots we have on the list. If we want to take 5 for draftees, which leaves us covered for a Naish bid after 25, then we need to delist 2 more which leaves us 5 live picks, plus 2 for the 2 rookies that we have to promote (Castagna and Soldo).

So currently 8 picks.

Gone:

Maric
Morris
Yarran
Hunt
Elton

Upgraded:

Soldo
Castagna

Who's gonna be the last two delisted?

Lennon? Batchelor? Hampson? Miles? Lloyd? Markov? CEllis? Garthwaite?
