Pick 12 discussion.

IMHO ellis will have a better career than dunstan, he is a much much classier player.
this makes me comfortable if Ellis is picked at #12 then, but i get gather that he's the backup for if someone else is gone by #12 but i got no idea who that is. seems there could be around 6 Players lol

I'll be fine if we pick Ellis because I trust our recruiting department.

Why? IMO our recruitment needs to improve if we want to be a solid top 4 team. they've done well to get us to a mid table team but we've got a long way to go. If FJ doesn't nail this draft it's time to upgrade him. I'm far from having blind faith in FJ and his team.

I remember the 06 draft when Essendon scooped the draft pool they said that night, guns like Gumbleton, Hislop, Jetta an our boy Basher. An others..you never know how it will turn out

Indeed CC. You never know.
From Richard Tambling & Jack Watts to Nat Fyfe and Luke Parker..
The National Draft is just a ticket for juniors to the big dance where nothing is guaranteed based on underage football.

he's been fine, just needs to nail picks outside our 1st more often

If ones happy about being smashed in EF's then I spose he's been fine. We need to improve in most areas and recruitment is one of them.

That's a fair assessment, Port have leap frogged us so we cannot rest on our laurels, winning a final is non negotiable.

certainly not happy being belted in any game let alone a final, it takes more than 1st rd picks to make a good side & we need to start nailing those later picks. i agree winning a Final or bust bare minimum next year.

It was almost obvious something was gonna click at Port, they had drafted just too many good players. Us? Not sure.

Really? I thought most were surprised at their sudden rise. Who did they draft that were so obviously good? Wines and Wingard?

Just wait till you see the one for the poor kid we pick at 12
:) The passion of our supporters is what makes this club great. I think there will be debate around type but this draft will give us a real beauty at 12.

Great work guys fascinating reading and insight into the potential new recruits, keep it up for the next week please.
Yeah for those of us who know nothing about the kids it's been great reading.

Emma Quayle has given an article to the age today, with her take on the draft (not a phantom draft yet - that'll happen the day before\day of the draft). She's again inferred that we're very hot for Ellis.

The jungle drums are beating louder!

Hopefully the other clubs before us silly enough to pick up Ellis save us wasting our pick
Ellis is not a first rounder :pullhair

Yeah, Emma Quayle in her story in The Age today says that Richmond is looking at Duggan, Ellis and Weller.

She also says that if Melboutne don't take Lever at 3 he could slip outside the top ten. Same with Collingwood not taking Laverde at 5. Wright - every club from pick 8 to 17 has done a catchup with him in the last week

on AFL website there's a list assessment story for each Club, C.Twomey, who has been the one mostly linking us toi Ellis had this to say at the end of our part = Cal Twomey says: Liam Duggan, Lachie Weller, Paul Ahern are in the mix at pick 12 as classy midfielders, but the Tigers will look closely at Corey Ellis, a talented, smooth-moving midfielder.
think ellis is the guarenteed pick for us if our other options are gone at #12

Based on what?

Paul Ahern is one that doesn’t get spoken about much. The talk in the media is that he could be available at pick 12 after looking GWS bound for much of the offseason.

Watching Ahern’s highlights he looks to have great kicking skills, leg speed and a great vertical leap which he uses to take great makes one on one.
He looks like he’s dangerous around goal, reading the ball of the pack and has the ability to create time and space with a nice sidestep. He’s apparently a shy kid but throughout this year
he has performed in big games, BOG in the TAC cup grand final in a losing side and a strong performance over the carnival. The knocks on him are his size (181cm 77kg) and his defensive side to his game.

Some people have said that Ahern’s inside game is very under rated and he has a lot of potential in that area averaging 3 clearances a game in the carnival and he’ll probably be able
to build on that when he puts on some size.

Also it’s worth noting that Ahern was a participant with the Luguntas program at Punt Road which saw him visit train and play at our facility several times throughout the year. He’s also a Richmond supporter. I’d be stoked if he became a Tiger.

Errr...yep. Harlett, got Polec in, Butcher showed every sign at the time and Boak and Ebert were already there. I in my great wisdom as a football boffin of the highest order, thought they had a great base. Is that ok with you Styles?
