Pick 12 discussion.

I'm out on Cocky too. Did some research, just too many question marks. As many non football, as football.

Nope. Duggan is there man.

Very confident he will be there at out pick. Whether we select him is another story.

Duggan goes to GC I believe, then West Coast probably has the choice between De Goey, Cockatoo & Weller. If they don't pick Weller then I reckon he's our man, although I'm not completely discounting Lever.

GC, from what I've gathered aren't into Duggan. Want pace and finishers. But they are still on the fence for Lever.

All I've heard is that Duggan has been their focus.

I read they are very keen on Garlett, wouldn't be the silliest thing to re interview him , let it slip to his manger how super keen we are an hopefully get them to play there pick 8 card on him at the rik of him been gone at 15, this way may just let who we are most keen for on to slide thru

West Coast will be worried about the go home factor.

This is my opinion on what FJ's order of preference looks like:

1) Wright
2) Duggan
3) Weller
4) Ellis

After reading Emma's article this morning I think if there that we will grab Wright.

I think Lever features in that list, he must in my opinion. The interesting thing is that he hasn't really featured in any of these mock draft predictions, he's the forgotten man. It leads me to believe that many are just guessing, Collingwood has been linked to 5 players, so much hinges on their selection, however I think we'll get an idea once the invites are sent.

On the assumption that he is as good as many say then we would have to take him if available. It would probably unbalance our list because we would have an extra tall rather than a midfielder, and may actually hurt us a little next year in midfield depth but in the long term if you can get a high quality 18 year old tall you take him imo.

Vickery, Griffiths, McBean, Elton and Wright is too many but there is some currency there for 2015 trade period.

Wright will not slide to our pick, Geelong at the latest, he could still go to GWS. There has been a late rush to interview him as many didn't expect him to be around, he's also just completed a medical at AFL House at the request of several clubs.

The question though bully is "by who" re the late interviews? Where did most teams initially think he would go?

Great posting over the past few month btw. For those of us who don't watch the juniors it has been extremely informative.

Thanks for the kind words WT, from my understanding Geelong & GWS have interviewed him in the past week, the medical also seemed to be free of any gremlins. From a list management perspective he seems to be the perfect fit at Geelong, with McIntosh nearing retirement age and Dawson Simpson having some serious fitness issues he becomes a first ruck proposition. That will ultimately be his best position, he did have a quiet carnival but when he was finally given free reign on the ball he dominated. In the match against eventual champions SA he had 29 hit outs and kicked 3 goals, it was a brief glimpse of his huge scope as a footballer. I also think he will learn to become more imposing with the body on body stuff, I personally think his upside is greater than McCartin.

as said above thanks for the posting, for me, i don't see any junior footy except the pick/youtube stuff so it helps me get a picture on what most players are like.
after watching Wingard in the IRS game last night i want weller. Wingard didn't do much but whenever he was near the ball something just happened. i want that excitement/x factor in our side (but then who doesn't). if Wright is there and we take him, as said above it gives us good currency at trade time next year.

There is no reason for the Wright slip,it all happened after the season. I'm always weary when a player fall after the season for no off field reasons. This draft caper is full of followers. One person doesn't like something, then another partly agrees then all the amateurs concur and it snowballs. Wright falling is Jack Darling & Dyson Heppell all over again. The longer a footballer is around, the more he is picked apart like Wright. Cocky has been blessed by one super impressive showing in a All Star game with no defensive tactics and no defensive structures in place. THe Wright slide has nothing to do with footballing performances.

I would be delighted with Weller, I haven't seen him play one bad game, he rises to every challenge thrown at him. He's extremely talented on the outside but his inside work has been greatly undersold by many in the media, his contested possession ratio is comfortably above the 30% mark and he wins clearances. In the All-Stars game he topped the list for clearances, against Collingwood reserves he battle tirelessly and proved that he will not be intimidated by the bigger bodies. He's just so classy, he also makes the right decisions and will never just blaze away, combine that with his superb kicking skills and he projects as one of the most rounded midfielders in this year's draft class.

The only questionable statistic that I can see is the number of 1V1 contests that Wright has lost, at TAC level he was the go-to man and was subsequently beaten more often than not. However this fails to take into account his upside, he's not had a thorough preseason and he's a 203cm giant, talls like this take time and won't click until the age of 23. Wright's kicking is elite for a big man, around the ground he's just so safe & reliable, in front of goal his action is fluent and he can roost a ball from 60 metres out. All this leads me to believe he's clearly a top 5 talent and should be spoken about in the same manner as McCartin.

Strange argument. This is an internet forum where everyone's opinion is pretty much worth the same as everyone elses.

FWIW I think Bully is one of the more reasonable people who seem to know their stuff on here yet he's happy to concede he may not be right or happy to admit afterwards he may have got it wrong.

Yep, I don't agree with everything Bully writes but he makes very thorough arguments and is always able to back them up with facts and stats. Is an obviously passionate and thoughtful fan/citizen.

On the most part the analysis you get on PRE is second to none, especially when it comes to juniors, state players, reserves etc. And, after all, it's there in bright yellow for someone to bring back at the appropriate moment.

I havent watched them enough this year to give a meaningful appraisal.

Even if I had watched TAC every week I CBF posting my findings here anyway. All you get is abuse and told you re a know-it-all. Look how bullus has coped it only a few pages back.

Whats in it for the person puting in the work?

Looks like we still owe CC and Geoffrey some petrol? :hihi
