Pick 12 discussion.

Errr...yep. Harlett, got Polec in, Butcher showed every sign at the time and Boak and Ebert were already there. I in my great wisdom as a football boffin of the highest order, thought they had a great base. Is that ok with you Styles?

No need to get defensive, was just asking.

Based on what?

1. Petracca
2. Brayshaw
3. McCartin
4. Pickett
5. Langford
6. Ahern
7. Goddard
8. Duggan
9. Moore
10. Wright
11. Weller
12. Laverde
13. Lever
14. Durdin
15. De Goey
16. Cockatoo
17. Garlett
18. Heeney

Those are the first rounders (in any order), I'd even expect Marchbank, Menadue & both the McKenzie's to be selected before Ellis. Just take a look at picks 12-18 and ask yourself who should be replaced by Ellis. I gather you don't rate Cockatoo but I can't see him slipping past North or Essendon, Garlett also seems to be gathering some momentum. Ellis is a solid footballer but pick 20-25 seems about right this year, he will probably give good service to whoever selects him but there's so much talent available that pick 12 seems a reach.

Most on here seem to think that Port are well ahead of us but i really dont, I think we are in a similar position as List quality goes but they are / were just ahead of us in regards to fitness/Hunger and drive

The area we are behind port is leg speed and game play, They are a fast running Dynamic team that moves the ball on at all cost and executes it well
We are a slower team in regards to leg speed and tend to hold onto the ball longer and chip it around more.

But all this could change in 1 off season and we have the scope to improve it by the start of 2015, As i have said for a fair while now we are 3 Quality mids short of where we would like to be but do have players that can develop into these quality mids that we are missing
McDonough,McIntosh are both unknowns at the moment and i do hold hope for both. McDonough does have smarts and looks like he will become a player but whats his cieling - could be anything & McIntosh was very highly rated by our club but injuries have played a part in his situation but looks like he is right to go now and certainly has physically developed into a big unit

Lennon,Gordon,Lloyd,Vlastuin,Conca all still have massive improvment left andcan go to another level whilst our older players are now in decline and will need to move over Foley,Newman and Certainly will be Knights last shot at making a comeback - He is 1 major injury away from retirement

I think the assumption that Port is well ahead is based on 3 weeks of September footy and that's fair enough. They had a great finals campaign.

The fact is they won 14 games in the home and away season, one less than we won in 2013 and 2 more than us in 2014. They are ahead no doubt, but they are not as far ahead as many make it out to be.

Anyway back to pick 12

Port are ahead of us because they have won a final each of the past two years and pushed the premiers to within a kick or three more minutes of football. Port are ahead of us because they have above average foot skills and run & carry.

We are trying to get players that help our weakness in both.

wow......
the only info i have on Draftees is whats in the media and ppls views on here, which i am greatful that ppl go out of thier way to discuss on here. but i am willing to back the Club in on thier choices. after all, they are Drafting for 5-10+ years and not just season 2015....

to make ppl happier it says here that 13 Clubs interviewed Weller at the recent combine with us & Collingwood keenest on him.

Meltdowns should be saved for later. Keep your power dry I say until they're exposed at AFL level over a period of time.

If the Coasters don't pick him first, I reckon that's the big hurdle.

Nope. Duggan is there man.

Very confident he will be there at out pick. Whether we select him is another story.

Can't recall that ? It wasn't me that's for sure.

The Cale Morton People's Front were quite active that year. Also many begrudging the fact Carlton hit the first pick despite Us being the wooden spooners because they felt Kruezer was the best of the draft
