Pick 12 discussion.

I've labelled him vanilla because he doesn't have one stand-out feature. He's had 1 game of 30+ possessions for the year and that was against an average NT side. His tackling numbers are average, his KE is below average, he runs hot & cold, he doesn't take the game on, he doesn't win enough clearances, he's only taken 1 contested mark in 2 years, he never kicks bags of goals and he put in some very ordinary games at the carnival. Maybe I've completely missed something here but he strikes me as a pick 20-25 not a pick 12.
From these comments he hardly sounds worth a rookie pick never mind a top thirty.
Not sure who rates the Pelican or how highly, but he was involved in the recruiting / list management at Port, Hawks n up until a few weeks ago the Saints for a little while as well. Regardless of whether we pick Ellis or not, I'd be inclined to think the Pelican would at least have some idea of the talent and probable drafting point of the current juniors.

He's one of the best kicks in the pool. Some are getting hung up on numbers.

How on earth would Pelchen know this though...?

The Pelican sees all.

Spooky :hihi

I still think despite all the heat around Ellis that we'll take Weller.

Weller would be fine, but so would a handful or more of others.

Chris25 over on Bigfooty rates him as 6th best. He wrote about him in the forums official mock draft thread.

Why did he pick Durdin at 12 then?

Think you means he ranks him the sixth best mid.

1. Petracca
2. Brayshaw
3. De Goey
4. Weller
5. Laverde
6. Ellis

One of his 3rd-5th preferred mids will be available at 12, no matter how you spin it FJ will be overlooking some significant talent by picking Ellis.

Chooka - "Richmond's pick #12 is getting intriguing. Is it out of Duggan, Weller and Ellis? Smokey Durdin?"

Brett Anderson - "I'd say its out of Laverde, Ellis, Ahern, Duggan. But if Lever was there is would be an interesting decision."

People keep saying this but based on what exactly? From the carnival games he kicked extremely well in the VC game but then capitulated against SA. He's also not a noted big possession gatherer, he's kicked a paltry 7 goals in 20 matches at TAC level, half his games this year were at 33% KE and he kicked 11 behinds in 2014.

What am I missing here?

Laverde (similarities to Deledio) has my interest.....

Two of those four will be gone. West Coast will nab one as will GC. I'd hazard we'd be picking between Lever and Weller out of that aforementioned group.

Interesting how Ahern has somehow become back in vogue for GWS, after looking like dropping into the teens.

Lol Aherns rating wouldn't have moved at all throughout. Its just that draft posters and media run out of things to talk about so speculate more and thus the draft order changes.

Brett Anderson did mention on SEN that Weller could get through to pick 19 .
Surely we will take him if hes there for us at 12
I think all these blokes have no more idea than we have
Hear a different spin everyday

Could poster's state how many time's they've seen a kid play when they're commenting on a kid's strength's and weaknesses .I don't watch any junior football , but am interested in how many time's people watch a kid play to have such sttong opinion's ?

Hunts reported today that GWS are looking at Goddard, Ahern and Pickett with their first 3 picks.

That's not bad from a Richmond perspective.

That's a great scenario, ignoring Vanilla Ice for a moment, choosing a player from Weller, Laverde, Lever & De Goey would be tough. I think I'd jump straight on Laverde, he's a wonderful talent with a big upside.

For the Ellis haters here's a nicer looking highlight package, compiled from one game

I can see why the club likes him, he's silky in traffic.
