Pick 12 discussion.

Interesting, makes me wonder why Collingwood has gone cold on Laverde. All this means we can just ditch the Ellis talk once and for all. No way Frank overlooks the other talent on offer.
Laverde is a Deledio clone. No way he slips to us. No chance.

If he did slip that far, FJ wouldn't be able to read his name out quick enough. Even if Wright was still on the board.

He's one of my favourites from the draft, would be stoked to get him.

At times he can look like Lids with his run and carry but Laverde doesn't have the ball winning or inside game of Brett.

Still I would be wrapped if we landed him. I just don't see how it would happen.

Ok so we know for sure that Petracca, McCartin, Brayshaw, Pickett and probably Goddard go before our pick.

So that leaves 6 spots before our pick with the following names linked, Duggan, Laverde, Weller, Cockatoo, Lever, Wright, De Goey, Moore (obviously guaranteed to be 1 of the 6), Ahern, Durdin, Langford.

I'd be happy with any of those guys to be honest and its likely we will get one, unless FJ picks Ellis. From what I've seen he looks ok but not as good as the others but then I've only since their highlights.

I can't see Geelong turning down Laverde, isn't he the one they are saying is a Stevie J type, wouldn't Geelong pick him to potentially replace Stevie J? I can't see him dropping to pick 12.

Would he come straight in and have an impact in 2015?

I would think so, the midfield would be some way off but as a dangerous half forward he could make a real impression. He has a similar arsenal to Steve Johnson so it will be interesting to see how he develops, as we all know Stevie J took a few seasons to get going. For x-factor Laverde has it all, he's a very exciting prospect.

Thanks!

Be fantastic to put some pressure on our best 22, we need to start upgrading! Long term talent, immediate list improvement is just what the doctor ordered!

But if Geelong had the choice between Wright and Laverde, they'd be silly not to take Wright.
With Vardy injured they had to swing Harry Taylor forward for God's sake.
You know you are desperate for a key forward when you move someone as good as an All Australian defender there.

If we get
1 Petracca - Saints
2 Brayshaw - Dees
3 McCartin - Dees
4 Pickett - GWS
5 Langford - Pies
6 Lever - GWS
7 Goddard - GWS
8 ? - Suns
9 Moore - Pies F/S
10 Wright - Cats
11 Cockatoo - Eagles. Just seems like an eagles player like a Lewis or Matera. Garlett's another
12 Tiges what's left after the Suns pick from Laverde, DeGoey, Weller, Duggan, Durdin, Ahern, Ellis

I honestly am not confident about all these rumours coming out of all these jurno's these days - But i do have confidence in Emma Quayle though and i will hold my bullets until i see what she say's - The lady is connected

:duh God almighty this draft really is turning into a monster wankfest.

I think it's mostly due to the online media content. Everyone can be an armchair recruiter with the amount of videos and write ups they put up compared to several years ago.

If you go on youtube, you can't even find U18 highlights videos of Lance Franklin, just 10 years ago. Now we've got highlight videos of rookie picks and kids that won't even be drafted, along with links to articles about them by coaches, teachers, recruiters, etc.

The internet has come a long way in recent years. So has the media.

Dont get our hopes up MM.

Anyway forget about Geelong I cant see him slipping past GC.

If Collingwood take Langford and GWS Goddard & Lever then cards could fall our way. Depends on if West Coast take Cockatoo. If DeGoey gets past the Pies then Geelong take him

I know everyone seems to be locking McCartin in for Dees but don't reckon it will happen. Paul Roos has repeatedly said he won't use early picks on tall guys as they are too risky. Absolute guess but I reckon they'll go Leverde pick 3.

Nice theory but no chance. Top 3 are locked in. The order is the only thing left to work out. McCartin still,a big chance for pick 1

If GWS take Pickett & Goddard and the top 3 go as expected & Moore is also locked in - then there are only 5 spots in front of Richmond's pick.

If GWS don't take a tall then most likely Lever or Wright will be there at 12.

Of the others mentioned - De Goey, Laverde, Duggan, Langford, Cockatoo, Weller.

That's 8 players above and only 5 available spots in front of Richmond's pick in the GWS taking Pickett & Goddard situation.

Will be interesting for sure.

Sorry explain how Collingwood get Langford, aren't they committed to Moore F/S?
