Pick 12 discussion.

I'd take Webb ahead of Gore & Miller in front of both.

I can understand where your coming from, he delivered one of the best solo performances at the carnival, and his scope is significant. He probably has much greater scope than the other guys both physically and football wise. I guess it depends on how much we value an inside mid and if we are prepared to take on a slightly more speculative pick.

I don't think Webb is any more speculative than the others. He fits our mantra of kicking skills & smarts. And is a very good kid. I could easily see him being a David Zaharakis clone.

Miller looks AFL ready, he has great leadership credentials, he has played well in just about every game he's participated in and tested really well at the combine. I'd back him in to play a sizeable chunk of the 2015 season. Gore has played senior footy in the SANFL, he has a rising star nomination and he's athletically very impressive. I'd be tipping at least 12 games next year. Webb played really well at the carnival but he doesn't have a huge amount of runs on the board, his 4 goal performance was outstanding, in fact I'd place it up there with one of the games of the tournament but his form prior was solid rather than spectacular.

Taking into account the fact he hasn't thrown everything at his football career I'd say his upside is bigger than the other two, but in saying that, Gore & Miller look pretty safe bets to have lengthy AFL careers. I'm certainly not against recruiting Webb but I'd be also weighing up the risk versus reward in such a scenario, the departure of Jacko means we really need to bring in some fresh blood into the mix, Webb doesn't project as an inside mid.

In terms of the overall mix, if we pick up Cockatoo then I'd be pushing for a guy like Webb, I think we could afford that luxury. If we pick up Weller then I would opt for the inside player in order to balance out the ledger. It comes down to ticking off all our areas of weakness.

#12 Cockatoo
#33 Gore
#52 Rose
#70 Boekhorst

Just make so much sens

Don't think Boekhorst will available at 70, Jaden McGrath might be and he would be an excellent pick-up.

I personally believe that Blaine will be available until the Rookie draft and would be a good get with our last selection

Could go as high as second round, be lucky to drift out of the third. Both Carlton & Collingwood very interested.

52 - Bampton
70 - McGrath
Stylo - very happy

Good haul, would probably go for someone other than DVR but the speed factor is there, as is the inside mid. Still uncertain where Bamps will go, the shoulder reconstruction makes him a wildcard.

If we don't end up with a two-dads from this years two-dads rich crop, I'll be disappointed.

Depends who's still available I spose, but I'm starting to really like DVR. That left foot of his is just a *smile* laser.

Gee How good would it be to really Nail this draft with a couple of players that end up like a Natt Fyffe & Luke Parker and be able to just implant them into Foley/Newmans position in the team in 2016

We really need a couple of young guns that would boost us upto top 4, Along with 1-2 FA we would be really up there with the Hawks/Swans/freo

Well tonight I was listening to Brett Anderson and he said that a couple of players unexpectedly may well slip through to 12. Said there was an outside chance that even Jayden Laverde could be there. Would be quite incredible if that happened as he is the exact type of player we need. Said also Jake Lever was another that could slip to 12th. Duggan was the other he said we are interested in if GC don't grab him at 8.

a theory i saw on BF - re: an interview with D.Richardson from October - thoughts?
“The reason we had interest in Jack was for midfield depth, and real class in the midfield, to add to the likes of Cotchin and Miles,” Richmond General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson, told SEN.

“Particularly in a contested ball-winning capacity, so the likes of Dustin (Martin), Brett Deledio, Reece Conca and Brandon Ellis can play a little bit more on the outside."

"Around that pick 12 there’s three or four players we’re interested in, that we hope will get through to that pick.

“Then some genuine outside speed will probably be the way we go later in the draft.”

Take what you will from these statements made during October.
But if Duggen is taken before our pick then I think we will be welcoming...

Corey Ellis (Western Jets)

H: 184cm W: 74kg

A tough inside midfielder, Ellis ticks most boxes. He can win his own ball, uses it cleanly and tackles strongly. The courageous and natural talent wins most of his ball contested and boasts strong endurance.

Cockatoo trumps Ellis on just about every one of those categories.

he may be gone by our pick tho, as said above, B.Anderson said we may take him if he is there.....

Yeah, Brett Anderson mentioned that North were interested Cockatoo but WC could reach and take him. Richmond were also a chance. The potential sliders of Laverde or Lever make things interesting. Maybe add Wright as well.
