Pick 12 discussion.

Compared to Boyd, Cameron, Patton - how far is Wright off those first picks ?

Completely different player, my guess is his career will track in a very similar manner to Brad Ottens, he will start as a forward & will then move into the ruck.

Sorry Bully if you've mentioned but what's your preference of order Wright, Cockatoo?

Would take Wright, even with a player as promising as Cocky, I'm not deviating from the tall>small philosophy (all things being equal). Both players have significant upsides & both are rare commodities. But ultimately, Peter Wrights are harder to find, he can run a 14.5 beep & 3sec/20 metre sprint, his weight to height ratio is spot on, his kicking is superb for a big fella and he can rotate through the ruck. He is the only decent ruck prospect in the entire crop and in a worst case scenario he gets traded for an early second rounder.

Thanks Bully, do you have a preference of the possibles in the mids that are possibly left for us at 12

With Cocky likely to go to West Coast, I'd be over the moon with Weller, he ticks every box for me, speed, smarts, elite kicking, versatility & leadership. If he's gone then Ahern, followed by Duggan and then Ellis. But we're looking good for Weller IMO, this is how I see things panning out.

1. Petracca
2. Brayshaw
3. McCartin
4. Laverde
5. De Goey
6. Pickett
7. Goddard
8. Lever
9. Moore
10. Wright / Weller
11. Cockatoo
12. Wright / Weller

Sounds as though from a few bits and pieces in the media Ahern will be the slider.

Yes it would appear that way, could drift into the late teens.

Would love to get Ahern.

Has a bit of Wingard about him.

guaranteed that the slider we let slip by us >>>>>>>>>>>>>> our #12 pick

Slightly different Baloo, more ruck than those guys. If I was to give a comparison, it would be Paddy Ryder like. Great leap, really good at jumping at the ball, not huge on body contact in the marking contest but doesn't shy away from ruck work contact, outstanding kicking skills and very good on the ground.

And then *smile* off n win three flags elsewhere? Hope not ;D.
Not sure I want us to be in the position where we have to toss up between jumping on a sliding Wright or sticking to the plan n taking the best available on baller. Bloody nightmare if we stuff it up.
Might be safer n more comfortable for all concerned if all we need to do with our first pick is concentrate on following the plan.

It's a tough call but we can't lose if De Goey & Goddard go early, Weller or Wright is a good outcome however you look at it.

Agree - Weller or Mr Wright.

My guess is still Wright for GCS.

Gut feel Weller is our guy. We seem to have interviewed him more than the others. Followed by Duggan and Ellis..

FJ and his crew really haven't screwed up a first round pick since they've become full timers. I trust them with that pick. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rd picks are the more interesting ones.

I'm leabing towards Weller though. Simply because he's a Tigers supporter.

IMO we need someone with a ton of X factor as our pick 12 dont go the safe pick
After watching the highlights package and reading his bio we should Bite the bullet and go for Nakia Cockatoo

Anyone have views on the defensive side skills of the players of interest ie Weller, Ahern, Duggan and Ellis? You don't get too many defensive side highlights so hard to tell. Weller's highlights showed a couple of great desperate tackles.
