Pick 12 discussion.

I think we might pull a surprise and select Touk Miller. There are so many opinions around but nobody really knows how the Richmond recruiting team rates these players. Touk early season was rated well ahead of Duggan. Until the hype started. He is a powerful mid! Isn't that exactly the type of player we are chasing? ???

At 177cm he won't be selected at 12, closer to 30 I would think. Good player and I'd love to get him but not at the expense of Wright or Weller.

We need players that can go straight into the Centre. Either way I just don't see any point in selecting Wright. We have enough of that type.

Don't think we've settled the CHF position at all, nor do we have a succession plan for Maric.

Worth a second rounder but no way should we grab him at 12.

Hit us with it.

So many names have been thrown around that nothing would surprise anymore!

If we overlook Wright for Ellis I will be demoralised.

I'm bracing myself for it... He's apparently a favourite of ours and we don't seem to have a problem reaching for these types.
I haven't been a fan of Ellis but must admit he's grown on me a bit recently. I rewatched some of his work and his inside game is underrated - averaged over 11 contested possessions and 11 uncontested at TAC level which is a good balance. Apparently the club see him as a Pendlebury type. There's no denying his best footy has been very good, he's just not produced it with consistency yet which is a slight worry.

Having said that I'd prefer any of Wright, Weller, Duggan, Ahern, De Goey, Durdin, Cockatoo or Garlett to Ellis so he's my 9th choice haha.

He'd have to grow a bit to be anywhere near Pendles' size. I don't mind Ellis, but I think there will be better available. Could definitely see us picking him though.

I have quite a few issues with Ellis, he's not particularly quick for starters, Weller has him covered on that count. His kicking is technically good but his decision making isn't, his KE was running at around the 50% mark at TAC level. At the carnival he averaged 2 clearances a game, that indicates his clearance work isn't a stand-out feature. Way too many question marks for mine, I'd be ok with Ellis at a later pick but there are so many better options at 12.

The Doggies are doing well and i like the way they have re built their list, They paid overs for Boyd with dollars but have got a bargain with Griffin +#5 for Boyd

Boyd and Bontempelli from the same draft year is huge for them. They could now argue they got the best two players from the 2013 draft.

They got it in the last 5 minutes as part of the Jones trade but had stalled the discussions trying to talk Carlton into parting with pick 28 or putting him into the PSD. They also had a deal cooking with Sydney and gave up pick 37 for 39 and Shane Biggs which was a good deal. I guess they still have a chance to adjust their list but maybe they are content to know that Carlton can't use it.
Pearce likely to be cut too

Have looked at a lot of vision of all the players doing this phantom draft and whilst highlight reels are not much to go on, Weller is the one I want. The kid is quick and has fine skills. He just looks a very classy player. If we get him I will be happy but long term they are all speculative. Who'd be a recruiter?

If Geelong take Wright & Cocky goes to West Coast then Weller has to be our man, it couldn't be more clear cut.

I honestly dont rate him as a 1st round selection, 20+ at the best in my view and if FJ selects him he should be sacked

Yep. A fellow who's job, entire livelihood, is the identification and selection of talent, with years of experience and noted for hitting the mark with first round picks, should be sacked because some fellow on the internet somehow knows better than him.

Yep.

If Wright was on the board we would be silly not to take him.

Otherwise if Weller is available, we take the slim framed boy with the silky skills and focus on bigger bodied mids later in the draft.
