Pick 12 discussion.

Massive let down after all the trade week spin from Richardson about we are investing heavily in the draft this year if we then take the minimum 3 selections which is what Brett Anderson has us doing

If we do that. it's a sign of policy on the run.

James Rose is another player i like and whilst not 190cm he reasonably tall 186/187 and 80kgs - Would be very happy with him at our #52
Would love to know your opinion on Rose bullus

Rose had been labelled one-paced leading up to the draft but his combine numbers revealed a different story, his 20 metre sprint was 2.97, much better than many were expecting, his tank is also reasonably well developed having registered a 14.06. Whilst he played as a forward at the carnival, Sturt have played him in defence & on a wing, athletically he would appear perfectly suited to this role, he isn't far off Gore if you want a comparison. Overhead he's really strong and he has a bit of an animal instinct, something which bodes well for his inside learning curve. I certainly wouldn't rule him out as a midfielder/utility, to me he has many more strings to his bow than just a stay at home forward. I think he'll be drafted in the 3rd-4th round.

Im really getting excited about the players we will get with our #33/#52/#70
as well as the rookie selected kids , There seems to be a fair bit of talent and if the reports are correct with only 60-65 live selections in the november draft, There will be some really unexpected names still be available in the rookie draft.

I have heard that we are really interested in Jared Petrenko for a rookie spot,Whats your opinion on Jared - I personally like his age/size/skill set but just question his ability to play midfield and his possesion count looks extremely low for a player his age. Do you think he could or has the ability to play 25-30% midfield at the tigers if he was drafted

I like him Bully, I really want to get him or Lukas Webb with one of out picks.

Both have significant upsides, Rose's full midfield potential is far from realised, I think he's underrated and would be a great pick-up with out third or fourth pick.

Rose is so smart, so clever, so posied. I think he screams half forward class.

Not picked up by any of PREs recruiting gurus in the PD yet. ;D
I remember comparing last years phantom with the players actually taken on draft day by the recruiting professionals and it was staggeringly wide of the mark. So many names spun and recycled around the footy forums that didn't get a look in on the main draft. A lot of them taken as rookie options though. Be interesting to see where someone like Rose ends up.

In a real draft situation I would pick him before Beasley & Daniel, the former being more of a rookie prospect & the latter likely to be overlooked until the 4th round or later. There seems to be a lot of crazy stuff being spouted about on the internet, some of the descriptions of players being wide of the mark. In Rose's case he's been compared to Aaron Edwards which has me scratching my head, aside from the fact he's been playing in defence & midfield for Sturt, he's way more mobile than Azza, the only similarity is they both can take a good pack mark.

Are we 100% going for a speedy midfielder. Looking at highlights reels I thought Jarrod Garlett's was quite stunning. Small forward is what we sorely need.

If available at 33 then by all means, at 12 it's a reach. We need players with adequate inside games and that's where Garlett is lacking.

Surely we have to go for wright if he's there... If not then follow their script...

We will take Wright, no doubt about that.

I like your confidence in regard to the Tigers taking Wright, I hope your prediction turns out to be true !

Jay Clark and Sam Landsberger have put up their top 20:

1. Petracca
2. Brayshaw
3. McCartin
4. De Doey
5. Laverde
6. Goddard
7. Pickett
8. Langford
9. Moore
10. Lever
11. Ahern
12. Duggan
13. Durdin
14. Wright
15. Garlett
16. Cockatoo
17. Weller
18. Heeney
19. Marchbank
20. Lamb

De Goey at 4, Weller at 17, Wright at 14, Durdin at 13... Crazy. As much as I like Duggan it'd be a mistake taking him over Wright IMO.

Essendon are in a really nice position, which is kind of annoying...

Don't stress it, we will not take Duggan over Wright, I'm almost 100% on that fact.

Would be a very nice top 10 for us as it would give us the choice of Duggan, Wright or Weller. Would GWS really take De Goey and Goddard with their 4 & 6 though?

I can't recall for a while where the top 20 have swung so wildly in the media phantoms. Reckon anything could happen. Emma Quayle usually gets close. Have to see what she thinks..
