Pick 12 discussion.

Boekhurst is a good selection although he was injured and didn't go to the combine. 185cm and 75kg, very quick and a very good kick. 2nd rounder for mine.

Our list was screaming out for a young ruck. Grundy was touted as top 3 all year. He fell for no good reason, I still don't understand why we didn't go for him. I'm with Bully, I would have taken Grundy ahead of Vlaustin. Said at the time, say it now. Not unhappy with Vlas and he'll play 200 games but I would've taken BG. And we would be silly to pass on Wright.

Yeah, he's action doesn't change. Almost on par with Griffiths. Maybe not on length but on accuracy I think he is better.

Each to there own...dont really rate Grundy.

Im personally just as excited about the Kids we will get in the Rookie draft this year, Cant wait to see the hidden Gems we are about to discover

Cheers Gus, I might just lock him in for Sydney's last selection.

Thats extremely high , If he gets selected at #28 there will ne alot of good players around with both #33 & #52

I cant wait to finally see how this all pans out - Getting really excited about this years crop

Bret Anderson has him going to Carlton at 28!

I was going to pull the trigger earlier until I noticed he was listed at 69kg on the AFL site, for a 21 y/o that put me off. Given he's 75kg I think he's capable of putting on another few kg's and competing at AFL level. Both Collingwood & Carlton have been interviewing him, will surely go earlier than many were anticipating. He's a late bloomer but his season has been top shelf.

Bully, been looking at our mids and we haven't got many of the 190cm blokes that can play midfield that seem to be in vogue a la Heppell, Watson, Fyfe, Pendles etc. We still haven't really replaced Tuck or Jackson imo.

Any guys that are available from our second rounder onwards that could fill that role, and give Miles a hand at the coal face?

Good question Kev, it's the reason I selected Beasley in the Phantom draft, he's 190cm, perhaps too short to be a key position player but I reckon he can transition into the midfield. He ran a 2.86sec/20metre sprint and has good skills & good decision making, he's an over-ager but that hasn't put me off, there will be a number of 19 y/o's selected this year, it's one initiative that's working really well in the TAC. The key for Beasley will be to build up his tank, once he does that then midfield duties remains a real possibility.

What about Panos? 191cm and did well for Norwood this season as the tall mid. Rookie chance?

Did very well, deserves a chance but it remains to be seen whether a 23 y/o delistee will be considered. Most of these guys are 21 or thereabouts, it would certainly buck recent trends.

Vickers-Willis might be around that mark. Could be the type that could move into midfield duties.

Yeah but we took the delisted Nathan Gordon (187 cm) from the SANFl 12 months ago at age 23 so the precedence is recent.

Yes that's true, will have to wait and see I guess.

Ed Vickers-Willis would be my pick if we were to be looking for the 'big mid' at our 2nd selection , I would doubt that he would be available with our #52 but would be a massive bargain if he lasted that long averages around 20 possesions in the tac games - definately midfielder thats pretty good both inside /Outside game

James Rose is another player i like and whilst not 190cm he reasonably tall 186/187 and 80kgs - Would be very happy with him at our #52
Would love to know your opinion on Rose bullus

Massive let down after all the trade week spin from Richardson about we are investing heavily in the draft this year if we then take the minimum 3 selections which is what Brett Anderson has us doing

I think we had 5 spots on our list after the trade period to use in the draft.

Taylor Hunt and Rookie Elevation of Miles means only 3 spots left on our list?

@turk-d-tiger - Vickers Willis spent most of his dragons games playing defence, hasn't got the pace I think to play midfield from what I've seen of him this year at TAC Cup & U18 champs games.

He tested in the top 7% for 5M and about mid range for the 10 and 20M. His agility test was poor but he did okay in the beep test. I'm not saying he could be a full time midfielder but so many teams now are looking for players to rotate through the midfield off a back/forward flank and EVW might be able to offer a bit of that. Needs to improve in a few areas but he has a first rate attitude.
