Pick 12 discussion.

Langford in the top 10 is interesting, not completely sold on him to be honest, he moves well but doesn't always make the right decisions, he's one example of a player who I wouldn't be relying on DE as an accurate measure. I would take Goddard over him all things considered.

Reece McKenzie will probably be a Blue, it would appear to be the main reason they traded down.

Laverde will go to Collingwood at 5, Hine loves him and for good reason.

Ahern may drop, I hope so, he's exactly what we need and would make our pick 33 selection much easier in terms of picking an inside mid.

Won't be ready for full time duties one would think, brief cameos as a small forward seems feasible.

Bully I respect your opinion tell me what an Ahern v Duggan choice comes down to ? Do you compare Ahern to Dale Thomas as some have ?

It really comes down to positional needs, we are screaming for pace & a well rounded midfield game, Ahern seems to offer that, not to mention a dangerous small forward option. His form at the carnival was also better, he played a ripping game in the TAC GF and would have claimed BOG honours had he not been in a losing side. The one the thing that strikes me with Ahern is he rises to the occasion, this indicates he won't be peturbed by playing at the highest level. I also think his decision making is outstanding, the Dale Thomas comparison is reasonable although he doesn't possess the same array of party tricks that Thomas exhibited in his draft year. One thing they do have in common is that they both came in from the clouds due to some ripping late season form, Thomas also put in one of the great TAC GF performances.

I really like Duggan, think he will be a terrific footballer, I wouldn't be upset with him given Newman is ready to retire and he is an ideal replacement. I just have Ahern slightly ahead at this stage. But don't get me wrong, both would be great assets at Richmond.

Second and third round options?

2nd Round - Connor Menadue, Jarrod Garlett, Dean Gore, Alex Neal-Bullen, Touk Miller

3rd Round - Daniel McKenzie, Caleb Daniel, Peter Bampton

Nakia at no 12 for me. Exactly the unique X factor player we lack and need to comment our solid type players. Gotta be bold if we wanna improve to the next level this is the man!
That's my choice anyway

He's a tantalising prospect, the upside is huge but there would be an element of blind faith. FJ rarely takes these types of gambles and I can't see him doing it on this occasion. It really comes down to 1 match and outstanding combine numbers. If we had a second pick in the top 20 I'd say go for it, I just feel like we have to make every pick count at this stage.

I'm going to hold out that Durdin gets to 12.

If he's gone, let's hope Weller is there. Some buzz that GC won't take him.

Durdin is an interesting prospect. I wonder if we would take a plunge on him given our KP stocks? He could be anything.

Weller is the one I have wanted from the beginning but he will not fall that far. I can't quiet put my finger on it but I don't want Ahern. Something that just doesn't feel right with him for me.

Never thought of Weller cause never thought we would get him at 12. Could this be the year we really luck in like Geelong did with selwood ?

We've gone the safe solid good character players the last few years with our first pick. I have been all for that. But at our standing atm I think it's best we look for that X factor match winner type player this year.
We can't keep picking the same type player year after year. There will be plenty of those avail for our second n third rd picks anyway it seems. This guy well it's def taking the risk on. Esp since we desperately need this type to compliment our current crop.
If we gonna improve we gotta take some chances and be bold.
He's the man me thinks!

Didn't we draft Lennon last season because of his 'X-factor'. I believe comparisons were being made to Stevie J.

Lennon may well turn into that player so do we really need to go again this year looking for it?

We need a midfielder with genuine pace who uses the ball well. Leave the X-factor to the teenage girls!

Put it this way, I wouldn't be upset if we took him, he projects as a genuine A-grader if he can reproduce the same quality football he did in the Allies match. The big question is whether we can take a whole lot from that 1 solitary match, playing against underage kids who are 1 year behind in their physical development. If we were in the enviable position that North are in then we'd be able to make a more accurate call, they've obviously seen him up against the men, albeit in a non-match setting. Most of these decisions come down to hours of research, it's process over compulsion. Greg Miller would pick Cockatoo, FJ would pick the player who's road testing exceeds industry norms. That is the Richmond today, we may lose occasionally but our first rounders have generally been spot on.

Yeah but our first rounders are generally the safe solid option. Let's take a small risk and go a diff player this time. He looks like he's def the risk. Lots n lots of upside and uniqueness with him

Pickett at 12 and Garlett at 33 would be nice. Dreaming?

We need players whose first instinct is to run and take the game on. we have too many statues.

Forget Pickett, next to no chance. Weller would be the ideal selection, then Gore with our second. Garlett will go in the 20-30 range.

I just read a little about Durdin. I'm hoping we don't grab him, as good as he may be.
His coach was saying he was best suited to the ruck, although wouldn't play here in the AFL, so would need to keep working to be a KPP at that level (which he was sure he could become).

I'm sure we could get a KPB given we let our rookie go, but surely it's more risky than a ruck turned FB, when we need mids?

I have heard Dan Richardson interviewed 3-4 times this pre season and my take is that there is no chance we are taking anything but midfielders with the first few picks we have in the ND

While I am hoping for Ahern, as he looks to have good vision and disposal which will help with delivery into the forward line, I am not sure that he will still be available.

Have seen one phantom draft with us taking Conner Menadue.

Does anyone know any more about him then is on the AFL profile
