Pick 12 discussion.

I only looked at his highlights because he tested so well at the combine (hate using that name also)
and if we want a replacement for White then Darcy Byrne-Jones looks it
Was quite impressed with his highlights, very neat kick, with a nice burst of speed, great skills on the ground and has a tank
(Granted this was highlights)

Is he a chance to make it to pick 50, or is he more likely to get picked closer to pick 12 than 50?

In my amateur opinion, I would take him over Hartung and prolly Freeman, close call with Taylor

Darcy Byrne-Jones won't be around unfortunately, he may have slipped under the radar if he wasn't such an outstanding athlete but the combine ended any hopes of a bargain basement pick-up. I would be shocked if he wasn't picked in the top 30.

Surely not for recruiters, but for plebs like me he only came onto the radar because of his combine results
Hopefully he gets picked up before pick 32 >:D

Have heard that Dees are zeroing in on Freeman & the Doggies are considering Bontempelli at 4, just how that effects Aish & Scharenberg is the million dollar question.

If there is any team that will be well informed about Lennon's pace and stamina - It would be Richmond Football Club after having a good look at him for the week
i'd be concerned Leppa as also saw him that week

There will be quite a few talented players Leppa will be overlooking (if they go down the McCarthey route), this is more about addressing needs.

I get the feeling that Dimma is following the Hawthorn model to an extent where precision ball movement takes precedents over raw pace. Pace is less of a concern if you have the skill to retain possession.

Having said that speed is as much if not more important as a defensive weapon to put pressure on the opposition and create turnovers. I don’t know who provides us with that on the current list.

Deledio & Martin would be our quickest. With Nahas & White out we have a glaring hole, Hawthorn also have some pacy types in Hill & Smith, in fact it's no surprise that quick players have made a huge impression on the results of grand finals. Jetta, Varcoe & Smith being some recent examples.

I'm going against the PRE masses i just dont see it with Lennon, or maybe i'm looking for too much.
Looks a solid footballer but dont see any feature that stands out, not that its a bad thing.

These type of players make me nervous, probably through previous recruiting and development.

I'm a just a pleb behind a keyboard so i'll back the recruiters in if its the way they go, but i'm still nervous!

If the Doggies take Bontempelli at 4, Lennon may not even be our man.

1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Billings
4. Bontempelli
5. KK
6. Salem
7. McCarthy
8. McDonald
9. Freeman
10. Scharenberg/Aish
11. Sheed
12. Aish/Scharenberg/Lennon

Ijust can't see how Scharenberg will get anywhere near 12. I'd be ecstatic if he does.

Scharenberg would be a dream, but as you say, it would seem a long shot. However, I have heard Freeman is almost certain to be drafted by Melbourne (not my personal choice) and the Doggies are weighing up Aish & Bontempelli. So if they take Bontempelli, where do Aish & Scharenberg fit into the equation?

If we get to pick between Aish/Scharenberg/Lennon I think FJ's head may explode

I sorta get the feeling that it's Lennon if he's available, no doubt. If he's gone and there's no obvious slider then my gut feel is Acres is 2nd pref

Doubt Acres is our second preference. I tend to believe journos when they reckon we are keen on players. I think our second preference would be Zac Jones. There was another guy we were linked to that we may reach for but I can't remember.

If we're going for a player of Lennon's ilk, there's absolutely no reason why Acres wouldn't be high on our list. Very similar player. Don't disagree that we're hot on Jones though. Depends how things fall on the night I spose, will be interesting to watch.

FJ is very conservative when it comes to injured players, we ruled out Menzel & Stringer last year as a result. But the way things are panning out, it's looking like Lennon or whoever falls, out of Aish & Scharenberg.

As much as the Dees are attached to Freeman, surely they would take Aish if available. That would leave Freeman/Scharenburg/Lennon. I think these three are the likely players available at 12 if McCarthy goes at 7.(and doggies take Bontempelli)
