Pick 12 discussion.

Cant believe they dont measure arse size at the draft CAMP.

Leysy would happily be responsible for rolling out that test...I reckon he would advocate measuring in 'hands'.

If Matthew Scharenberg is available at our pick we simply CANNOT pass on his talent.

Can't see it thou :(

Aish at 12 is an unbelievable outcome, I never would have seen it coming to be honest (still might not if the Doggies pick him at 4), and he's super skilled, DE is at the top of the class along with Battersby. I dunno, I think I would take the plunge, people compare him to Gibbs and I don't mind that comparison, even from a back flank he could do untold damage. The skinny part doesn't bother me, he's been playing against men for two years now and has already copped some heavy attention from the taggers. Considering we've picked up numerous blue collar workers recently, I don't see the issue in recruiting a classy mid like Aish. Ultimately, I can see him playing in a similar manner to Dal Santo, and that's certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

We need skill and finishers. Aish is just about the best in both areas . At 12 he is taken in about in a second. I don't think it happens. Aish has been under the nose of scouts for three years and he has been picked apart. He is a legit gun with a lethal shoe. Richmond would be a great fit for Aish. Wouldn't get tagged and wouldn't be expected to dominate.

Talk that Collingwood will have a choice between Aish and Salem at 10 (assumes Dees go Freeman). They will be like a fat kid in a lolly shop.

Means we may yet get a choice between Salem and Lennon. Who would we choose in that case?

SCPaige has just updated her Phantom and has Richmond selecting Ben Lennon (12), Riley Knight (50) & Will McGuiness (66). What I found interesting was the sheer quality of players available between 50-60.

51. Chris Cain
52. Alex Spina
53. Darcy Byrne-Jones
54. Louis Herbert
55. Karl Amon
56. Jared Jansen
57. Tom Langdon
58. Nick Bourke
59. Nick Holman
60. Darcy Hourigan

Anyone who suggests this is a weak draft is looking at things from a very narrow focus. It's weak for KP players but as far as small forwards and midfielders are concerned, I think there's some decent depth.

What is your thoughts on Nick Bourke? He seems like a decent pick up at 50.

Pick 12 – RICHMOND
Ben Lennon

Club: Northern Knights
D.O.B.: 5.7.1995
Height: 188cm
Weight: 77kg
Position: Medium Forward/Utility
Plays Like: Dayne Beams

With talent like this available, Ben Lennon will not get past the Tigers here at pick 12, which is an absolute gift at this selection. Lennon initially trained with Richmond for a week earlier this year, as part of his AFL-AIS club placement, and the Tigers were immediately impressed with what they saw, however believed they would not be in the draft earlier enough to see him return to the Tigers once more. Lennon however, is the best offensive player in this year’s draft pool, and offensive weapon who is as dangerous as he is damaging – Lennon is an extraordinary talent. Although he’s had his critics, Lennon has saluted and executed everything asked of him this season, in what has been a demonstration of his character, work ethic and desire to compete at the next level. In the past Lennon has been comfortable off half forward, where his speed, agility and incredible marking game and a long, long penetrating kick have served him well, recruiters dared him to take his game to the next level and push up into the midfield, and towards the end of the TAC Cup season, Lennon didn’t disappoint. The move did Lennon wonders, averaging 28 disposals and two goals a game, it bought out areas of Lennon’s game that perhaps hadn’t been exposed, such as his vision, awareness and ability to really link up and prove a damaging kick going inside 50. Lennon’s strengths are his kicking and his marking, and he’s also been discussed as a player who can play a variety of roles, even off half back where some recruiters really fancy him. Lennon’s versatility means that he could prove to have some serious x-factor. He offers excitement, passion and can really turn the momentum of games with one act of brilliance. Lennon was also a three-way joint winner of the clean hands test, and rated highly in the kick rating testing at the combine, whilst also averaging 28 disposals playing for Vic Metro in the championships this year.

Other Prospects: It’s really a best available basis here for Richmond, and they’ll get their hands on one of the top 10 sliders, which looms to be Lennon. Christian Salem was originally thought to have been available here, but that looks to have diminished. Some recruiters believe that Matthew Scharenberg or Marcus Bontempelli could be available at pick 12 – which is hard to fathom given their high interest further up the pecking order.

Vladimir sounds like a #1 prospect by that write up.

I like him but he's one of many in this range who appeal. If there's a knock on him it's that he doesn't rack up huge possession tallies and he's very outside, definitely a project of sorts. But his disposal is very good and he has the potential to fulfill a Matt White role. I must admit that in the list I just provided, I'd be happy with half of them, it just goes to show there is talent available in the third round.

If there's one criticism about this website, it's that the focus is only on their strengths, I think we all know that Lennon has his faults, but I still rate him as a player and would be well pleased if we call his name out.

I would be like a pig in *smile* if we landed Lennon at 12, Tsitas or Wilson at 50 and Batsanis with our last pick.

yep.

There's no such thing as a week draft. The quality is what it is and you you never find out to years later anyway. Drafting is about being better than the other 17 teams. We're all fishing in the same pond - no point pulling up your rod.

Tsitas would be great at pick 50
Also wouldn't complain bout Wilson, Byrne-Jones, Knight or Bourke

Didn't Bourke train with us around the same time as Lennon? Suggests we have some interest in him, though a lot of phantom drafts have him going top 30.

That would be a decent haul, I'd probably prefer to rookie Batsanis and in invest in another junior, although things do taper off a bit after pick 60. But on the bright side, there may be a few clubs passing so pick 66 may even become a pick in the 50's. One small forward and one inside mid is my hope, I think we can get it done.

Me neither, hopefully one slips to our third pick.
