Pick 12 discussion.

I thought it was Foley, Connors slipped because he was, is, and will always be, a headcase
No it was Connors that's for sure because at the time I thought how smart are we compared to the rest of the comp knowing this - little did I know !

Theres still 9 sleeps to go, and plenty of water to leak under the fridge, but im starting to get the feeling that we are starting to settle (as a prediction and preference) on young Ben Lennon.

He seems to fit our need perfectly. A likely 200 gamer with good size, skills and a match turning streak (dare i say X?).

I did hear though that he has a rare genetic, degenerative condition that will see his fingers shorten to little nubs within years. I was talking to his mum the other day, who also pointed out that Ben has dicky heart valve that impedes is V-O Max potential severely. Its a ticking time bomb apparently. His dad also has the finger condition, which cut a promising surgical career short at about 22. He became a pretty renown butcher in Thornbury.

And Ben smokes a lot.

nah, im still on the nippy, annoying little captain of vic country :clap will bring ALOT to the club and has that falcons pedigree. a future little champ and easily fills a need with the loss of white and nahas. in fact he upgrades that position.

I hear ya, but it aint going to happen unfortunately, GWS apparently very keen with pick 14, which is good because when he busts through the glass ceiling in the name of midget power, we can poach him down the track.

What sort of HF is Lennon? ROK type? Nat Fyfe?

He'll need to lift his inside work to be mentioned alongside those guys but to be fair, Fyfe was just a skinny half forward with some potential to jump into the midfield. His marking is up there with ROK & Fyfe, his kicking is better than both, his footballing IQ is also very high. As far as his test results are concerned, his endurance wasn't great but it's not a lost cause, he will take some time but at least he can serve a lengthy apprenticeship on the flanks.

my concern is we are recruiting flankers and trying to turn them into mids - ellis, vlastuin, lennon.

Most mids will serve an apprenticeship on the flanks anyway. The other notables, Sheed, Taylor, Bontempelli & Scharenberg will no doubt spend time on the flanks as well. I don't see a problem with it as long as the tools are there.

Ellis and Vlastuin have already proved they are more than adequate when playing as mids.

By the time he serves an apprenticeship on the flanks, his paddles will be unusable for kneading dough, let alone afl football. Even if finger prosthetics or stem cell stuff took a quantom leap and allowed Ben to occupy a back pocket in the reserves, his ticker could give at any moment ..... PASS

Good Call Bully, let Collingwood take the risk.

Vlastuin was a mid though. A very good one as a 17yo. Played HBF as an 18yo due partly to injury and partly to round out his game.

Yep and even though Ellis was a HBF, he has way too much endurance for that role hence why he has already made the transition to wing/mid.
